God, at this rate he might as well be the detective with all these fucking questions.
Even as Keiji feels his face heat up, he isn’t going to give in just yet. “I’m no dog, y'know,” he responds lazily.
Shin raises his eyebrow, seemingly unimpressed by his response. “Well, they’re big, dumb, and obedient. Sounds just like you!” He caresses his cheek gently, quite contrasting to his harsh insult.
Wahaha, now I’ve got nothing witty to say to that.

Sou had asked him, in that way that never felt quite like a question or request, but rather like a forceful push between his shoulder blades, if he wanted to be a part of something bigger than himself.

In fact, there was a singular desk in the middle of it. A mere object ominously shined on top of it — scissors, Shin’s brain belatedly registered.
If the sound of a click and the closed doors were anything to go by, Shin was absolutely fucked and he should’ve definitely said a proper goodbye to his little sister before leaving the house that morning, and maybe fed his hamster some extra leftovers, or something.
…Something. Something was surely going to happen, judging by Hiyori’s stance and the way he approached him like a hunter.
Or, the internal struggles of a teenager who would appreciate it if his best friend didn't act as if he were constantly planning his murder.

He'd never let him live it down. Torn between showing his hand and backing down entirely, he decides to settle for ambiguity. ''... thinking what it's like to not be human anymore."
(Or: An AI and a doll discuss their artificial existence and their humanity-- or lack thereof, really. Hiyori isn't an ideal conversation partner, though.)

Sara and Joe think it would be funny if Keiji flirted with Sou to see his reaction. He thinks so, too, until he realizes just how attracted to Sou he really is. Once at arms-length from each other, the both of them seem to click in ways they really shouldn't. It just spirals downwards from there, as their inability to be genuine with literally any other living person makes it a fucking ordeal for their friends to watch. Joe and Sara (but mostly Sara) end up saving the day, as usual. But it takes about 8000 words to get there.
