Regulus is dead, or he should be. But he isn't.
He wakes up in the hospital wing, next to James Potter who had "saved" him. He begs the older boy not to tell Sirius about his attempt.This fic is basically about the aftermath of Regulus' suicide attempt, mending his relationship with his brother, him and James falling in love and Regulus' mental health slowly getting better.
TW: While Regulus doesn't attempt suicide in this fic, his past attemts are mentioned and described in varying amounts of detail.

Summary
Regulus Black leaves the Potter’s house one night without one idea in his head - he can’t do this anymore.
James Potter and Barty Crouch Jr follow him at a distance, not sure what he’s doing outside, at night, in the dead of winter. He’s been acting strange all day.
Barty doesn’t realise he’s going to have to dive into icy waters to save his best friend, and almost kill himself in the process. James doesn’t realise he’s going to break a rib performing CPR on his boyfriend, who purposefully never learnt to swim, in case this day would come. And Sirius is all the way back at the house, with no idea this is all happening.TW - suicide attempt. It’s nothing explicit, it’s just known that thats why Reg is in the water.

"You were dead," he says, dumbfounded. "But, you're alive?"
"Yep," Regulus answers, popping the P and suddenly avoiding his eyes.
James's head is hurting as he tries to take it all in. He's stopped pressing himself into the sofa and is instead leaning forward, towards Regulus. His body and his mind are at war and it seems his body is winning. Something inside of him is desperate to get closer.
"I used to know this." It's a statement, not a question. He's certain of it. There's an empty, static feeling in his mind as he tries to think back on any of it.
Prodding at the hole in his mind makes the tension between his ears even worse.
