Grian hadn't ever been expecting someone to follow through on courting ritual with him. He'd been crushing hard on his co-worker turned crime-fighting partner for years at this point, and Scar certainly had no idea that avians had that sort of thing. With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.

Avery took a moment to catch his breath. He gently tugged on Derek's hand, guiding him to the soft, inviting grass nearby. As they settled down, Avery's slime body spread slightly, creating a comfortable cushion beneath them. He looked into Derek's eyes, silently inviting Derek to come closer.
Derek complied, his weight sinking into the earth next to Avery. The two of them fit together effortlessly. Avery wrapped his arms around Derek, pulling him in. They both exhaled in unison as they were overwhelmed with a drug-like happiness.

“So…then…” Avery didn’t know where to start.
“Go on.” Derek encouraged.

Derek was amused by the question. His hand found Avery’s, and he squeezed it lovingly.
