"You know, Leo, the truth is, these last three months have been very complicated," he confessed, remembering how difficult it had been to adapt to the new environment in the forest. "Being a leader is very difficult."
"What do you mean?" That last sentence left the katana wielder completely confused.

"Leo... I..." A lump in his throat prevented him from saying anything. "... I'm so sorry..." he said finally. "If I hadn't objected at the time, none of this would have happened. You wouldn't be hurt, Splinter wouldn't be missing, and New York..."

Just a partial rewrite of "Within the Woods" the first episode of the 2012 series' third season. I added some scenes that I thought would have been perfect for the episode. Some scenes will be told from a different point of view than the one shown on screen.

The turtles find themselves captured by a man calling himself Agent Bishop. Separated and having no idea what Bishop is capable of, they must try to escape on their own. While captured, Bishop subjects them to their worst enemy, their subconscious. He makes them all face their real deepest fear. Mikey: being abandoned. Raph: hurting the one he loves. Donnie: not being useful. Leo: failing his family. They no longer know what real or what's Bishop’s games. How can they escape when they are their own worst enemy?
