Ponyboy knows he must die. He has since eleven-and-a-half, since the old red-bellied beagle was shot thrice by the elderly man next door, since his arm was broke in spring and the excuses flew off the tongue.
A happy ending simply didn't make sense for Ponyboy Micheal Curtis, born July 22nd, 1951, death date soon to come.

Ponyboy is horrified at the thought of what possibly could’ve happened to his future self. Nobody understands how he got here, but one thing is for sure. They need to stop whatever happens before their future ends up the same.
