Summary
Imogen and Laudna were friends when they were younger. Both because of proximity to one another (who didn’t run around with the neighbor kids if given the chance) and because they were both the quiet kid and gravitated to each other. For a few years. Until Imogen’s mom left when she was nine. And she and her dad had to move away. He told her it was a money thing, but looking back now, as an adult, she knows he was also trying to get away from the place his heart was broken. It’s been almost twenty years since then and she’s recently returned, not expecting to see a familiar face in the bar.
Meanwhile, Laudna never left. She mourned the loss of a friend, but when you’re that young, you move on pretty easily. Occasionally she’d think about the friend she played pretend with, but never for long. Until she bumps into her, literally, at a bar in town with some friends of hers. Gem is the youngest of her siblings (Joel, Scott, and Cleo) and the fourth in line for the throne of Ebbin. After earning her knighthood, she goes out with a group of knights (Impulse, Jimmy, Scar, Squire Bdubs, and Mage Tango) adventuring. On these adventures Gem goes by the name Taylor, when not in Ebbin, and with a little help of some magic, she is perceived as guy in the kingdoms that have made it against the law for a woman to be a knight. The latest adventure was defeating a dragon that was tormenting both the Kingdom of Ebbin and Cidagor. The King of Cidagor hears of the victory and summons the crew to receive the reward he had put out. His Eldest son (Grian) sees that Gem would be a better match for his sister (Pearl) than who his father currently has planned for her, so with the help of his advisor (Mumbo) they convince his father to bestow Pearl as the reward to Gem for making the killing blow.
TLDR Gem is fucked and needs to keep everyone believing Shes a guy. With the help of her crew, she might just be able to pull it off.
