Summary
It had been a long and difficult 27 years since the Hail Mary had launched. Not as terrible as it could have been, but not easy. Humanity had survived and adapted, as it always did. There had been terrible wars. There had been incredible acts of kindness. There had been massive scientific breakthroughs. And now, there were two distant blips of Petrova-light, picked up by the Deep Space Network, hurtling home. Two probes, braking hard as they hurtled toward Earth holding the secrets to its salvation. They were late, or at least, not very early, but they were here.
Grace may have made his peace with dying to save Rocky, but Rocky insists they return to Earth.

Summary
Welcome aboard, passenger number three.
Ryland Grace now must face his biggest challenge yet: parenthood. It's going to be a long four years to Erid, and he and Rocky are going to have to team up and get creative in raising this tiny human together within the walls of the Hail Mary. Grace is going to have to sort through his own issues-- including painful memories and tricky feelings about his alien best friend-- all while being at the mercy of parenthood, deep space, and their limited supplies.
OR: Grace and Rocky have to figure out how to keep a human baby and themselves alive for four years until Erid. They also happen to be falling stupidly in love the whole time without realizing it.

Summary
Rocky clicks nervously, swaying and tapping the ground in a tight rhythm. He stands next to the xenonite barrier overlooking Grace's medical area, but most of his attention is across the lobby, on the space elevator door and its approaching platform.
When the door opens Adrian explodes into the room; Rocky's name and every nickname they've ever given him repeating and overlapping within their desperate song.
Rocky hesitates for a single hearts-beat before barrelling toward them, warbling broken notes as his vents catch and strain.
The two crash hard and loud. Several scientists and doctors jump then click at them to check they haven't cracked their carapaces.
Rocky and Adrian cling to each other, deaf to the world as they entwine limbs and rasp claws over one another. They twitter, exchanging frantic messages of love and longing, trilling out relief painful and raw.
