Honestly, it wasn't fair. Dustin wasn't talking to him, El broke up with him, again, and now Will's mad at him. He doesn't even know what he did, so how does any of that make sense? Max and Lucas seemed to be the only ones on neutral grounds. Well, is it neutral if they agree more with the others than with him? He just wanted a moment of peace so he can try and solve one thing before moving on to the next and then the next, was that too much to ask?
Apparently, it was because now he was stuck in a room with his friends about to watch something he didn't want to talk about. Ever.

The air shifts, and a draft of cold caresses the high of his cheeks, ruffles through his hair. His ghosts are scattered to the wind, and he doesn’t look for them.
He lingers in the past in different ways.
Hawkins was better than Denver—or, at least, that’s what Steve wanted to convince himself, back then. Too young for the harsh reality of the world, too angry for anything beyond being broken, too something or another: Hawkins was where he would let it all go.
And he did.
He left behind his ghosts, his hauntings, his traumas, his whole damn fucking family and even his fucking name—and where did it get him?
Back in the same fucking place, in almost the exact same fucking manner. There’s an evil that lurks under this town, too, and Steve is often at the centre of it but at least he isn’t the sole focus of it.

[The Grabber stumbled, collapsed, and morphed back into Vecna. An axe was sticking out of Vecna’s back, blackish-red blood oozing from around the blade and running in rivulets down the vines. The hands still gripping the axe ripped it out and raised it high, ready to strike again if needed.
Robin Arellano looked back at Steve, just as he was the last time Steve saw him except he was missing his bandana and he had a jagged cut slicing across his throat, caked in dried blood.]
OR: Steve gets Vecna’d. He’s also Finney Blake and is confronted by his memories of the Grabber, but when Vecna is about to kill him, he’s saved by the ghost boys.

Summary
Finn's having a hard time getting his sister to go home, and all he wants to do is protect her from him. Especially when she's attacked in her sleep and there's nothing he can do to stop it.
So he himself goes to sleep and lets Ernesto take care of her for a few hours, hoping he'll wake up and she'll be okay.
He does wake up, and she is okay. Except they're both children again, and he's back in his home in Denver.
(Or, in which Ernesto, Gwen, and Finney are sent to the past to save the ghost boys.)

Steve didn’t know what death felt like, not really. He had ideas—perpetual darkness, reincarnation, heaven, some ghostly afterlife. Maybe he’d be returned to the stars in one last comforting breath from Earth.
That would be nice. No memories to miss or consciousness to ruminate on.
But his head was splitting. Worse than when Billy beat it in, worse than when the Russians tortured him. The exotic matter had destroyed everything. So, he should be dead. Unfeeling. Peaceful. But he only hurt, aching up his nerves, his spine, his skull.
One last fuck you from the universe, kicking him while he’s down.

But, instead of dying, Steve wakes up in the last place he'd ever expected. The summer of 1986 at the Squawk. Four months after Vecna split Hawkins apart.

Summary
His hands were cupping his face, the pressure of his fingers against the wound making him scream again. He couldn't see, his eyes blurred with tears and pain in a way that made everything fuzzy,
No… wait… only one of his eyes was bouncing around wildly, eyeing the snarling Demogorgon that was sniffing at the fresh splatter of blood on its claw. He was watching it, a keen rising in his chest when he realized that it was only out of one eye.
It was- It must've been the blood that was making it hard to see, the blood was gluing his eye shut, that was why he couldn't see. He cried out when the Demogorgon turned back towards him, flinching away when it roared in his face, tensing like it was about to lunge.

The Demogorgon got to Mike a few seconds earlier, claws ripping through fragile skin and now Mike had to fight to heal and adjust while trying to rescue his sister from an inter dimensional monster. Which is actually pretty hard when he's in pain, drugged to the gills, and can't stop blurting out things that he would really rather not. Case in point: the Quarry, the box of unsent letters in the back of his closet (Ironic, yes, he knows) and his embarrassingly massive crush on his best friend.

Summary
It's almost-winter in Hawkins and Will wants to go out on a walk. Worried with the possibility of being taken again haunting him, the idea of someone else being taken instead, not to the upside down, but to his world, doesn't even cross his mind until he walks into a familiar face. But this face, shouldn't be here.
:Will comes across Mike. But Mike's not from his world. This Mike is from a universe when instead of Will disappearing on November 6th, it was him instead.
Trying to not cause some catastrophic world-ending event, Will attempts to hide this Mike from everyone else, hyjinks ensue.

Summary
Steve had a bad feeling, and this wasn't the first time it had happened.
For as long as he could remember, he had always had hunches. Hunches about events that hadn't even happened yet but warned him before the shoe could drop. He was used to them. To the bad omens. To the anxiety they brought.
Maybe, that's why he was as tense as a coiled spring when they entered Hawkins Lab, as gray as decayed as the rest of the Upside Down. But not even a hunch could have prepared him for what happened that day. He couldn't have braced himself for the party splitting up. He couldn't have braced himself for an argument with Dustin, much less the boy's violent reaction at him bringing Eddie into the conversation.
He couldn't have expected to crack his head open into the ground, nor the world that waited for him when he opened his eyes once again. Neither the spider that bit him, or the powers that would later bring him.
And when this peculiar world welcomed him, he couldn't help but wonder.
Was that Munson? In a big sign? Wearing a hero-like costume?
And why on Earth was he blond?
