Jaskier shuffles his chair closer to Geralt’s. “I imagine this is how parents feel,” he says softly. His fingers ghost over the back of Geralt’s hand, running over scarred knuckles.
“I’m not, though,” Geralt says after a time. “Her parent.”
Jaskier clicks his tongue. “She’s yours,” he says gently. His words won’t carry over to the arena; they’re too far away. But even still, he knows how sharp a Witcher’s hearing can be. And even if Lambert is currently occupied with teaching Ciri about where to strike on a body, Jaskier keeps his voice low just in case he listens in. “In a biological sense, no. You’re of no relation to her whatsoever. But family is more than blood.”

Jaskier.
He had longer hair, shoulder length and matted. His cheeks were stubbled and tear stained. His clothes were ratty, worn, and not colorful at all. His hands bandaged. And his eyes… his eyes were nervous, and… hurt. Deeply hurt. But here his bard was, alive, petting Roach and staring at Geralt.
Geralt moved forward and hugged the man to his chest without thought. He wasn’t expecting the flinch, nor for the bard to pull away, but Geralt let him go. He didn’t know what had come over him anyway.
He was happy enough just to look at the man.
“Where have you been?” He asked. “I’ve been searching for you, ever since…” he trailed off, expecting Jaskier to chime in, like he always did.

Julian opened his mouth to ask more and was hit by a pain he had never experienced. The boy cried out in pain and doubled over, arm wrapping around his screaming middle. His mother shushed him and pet at him until he was able to catch his breath.
“See what happens to naughty little boys who don’t listen?” Her voice was sharp. “I told you not to say anything.”

Summary
Jaskier always asks to stop whenever they reach meadows, to cut as many flowers as he can manage. He usually aims for white heather and feverfew, and Geralt usually ends up with some threaded through his hair. He assumes at first it’s just Jaskier’s restless fingers and part of his campaign to change Geralt’s image. It takes him nearly three years, and a fight with a higher vampire, to realise there's more to it than that.

Geralt barely managed to slam the pommel of his sword up in a glancing blow that shattered the metal latch holding the Soldier’s mask in place. The Soldier rolled into the movement with a dancer’s grace and came to his full height just as easily. For a moment, his hands reached up to run over the exposed skin, before he slowly turned to face Geralt once more.
The Witcher froze in a mixture of horror and near-frantic hope.
He stared into the eyes of a dead man and whispered, “Jaskier?”
The Soldi--the bard frowned at him in confusion and spoke with a voice rough with disuse,
“Who the hell is Jaskier?”

“We also don't do frequent wrestling matches with drowners,” she counters. Ciri lifts a piece of Geralt's hair, appraising. She doesn't look impressed.
“I'm going to braid it,” she decides.Geralt and his hair being a Mess™ evolves into a new tradition for two boyfriends, their adopted daughter and said daughter's cool aunt.

Geralt knew he was being followed. Something – someone – had been following him for days. His first instinct had been to just call them out on it and take them down (if needed) but, for some reason, he decided to wait. Now, four days later, they still hadn’t showed themselves but more importantly they hadn’t attacked him.
He’d even feigned sleeping and still nothing.
So the person obviously wasn’t a threat. At first he thought maybe it was a human too nervous to inquire about a job, but that didn’t seem right. He could hear the thing’s heartbeat, nervous and unsteady, but on top of that he could feel them. They weren’t a mage, not quite, but they still felt like magic. Strong and potent magic.

“Something is wrong with him,” Geralt repeated. “He killed two men the other day in cold blood. He tried to sell Ciri over to Nilfgaard.”
“Alright, first of all,” Jaskier said, “it’s not like you two haven’t killed anyone, so get off that high horse. Second of all… yes, but have you heard of the reward money?”
