    Summary

“NOW! DO IT NOW!” Donnie screamed.

Orange energy blasted out of Mikey, pulling something red and wispy and flickering out of Raph’s red body, Red, covered in red, liquid red, a red flame flickering—

Mikey raised his hands and slammed them down.

An explosion rocked the lab. A wave of ninpō blasted Donnie into a back corner, where his battle shell barely caught him before he could slam face-first into his circular saw. The lightbulbs burst in a shower of sparks. Every one of Donnie’s purple screens winked out of existence, and when the orange energy dimmed, everything fell…quiet.

Donnie breathed, staring down the serrated blade, mind racing, racing, stuck, stuck in a—in a—in a loop—

“Mikey?” he heard Leo whisper from across the room.

AKA - The Hamato brothers deal with losing one of their own not once, but twice during the apocalypse.

    Summary

    “Time?” Mikey asked.

Leo had stolen a watch off a Krangified human a couple months back. After a thorough wash with clean water (Donnie insisted), he’d been permitted to strap it to his wrist. “Almost four. Gonna have to wait out the rain, so we might as well have Meal Three while we’re here.”

“I wish you’d call it dinner,” Mikey sighed.

“I will not,” Leo replied. “It’s the apocalypse. I’m taking every opportunity to define the slang of the era.”

“Sue me for wanting a little normalcy, Leon.”

“If our meal times were normal…” Donnie began.

“Yeah, yeah.” Mikey dropped his bag off his shoulder and dug through it. “How’s everyone feel about a nice tomato and oregano dinner?”

    “Chef’s choice,” Raph rumbled exhaustedly.

The world just ended?!?! Oh no! Three months into the Krang Apocalypse, the battered Hamato brothers pick their way through the desolate, ravaged remains of New York, scavenging for food and supplies as they try to stay alive long enough to beat the Krang. Spoiler: they definitely won’t beat the Krang.

Or: the shitty lives of the Bad Future bros BEFORE their Future got Bad. The Shmedium-Bad Future, if you will.

    Summary

Mikey is a very attentive individual.

He may have a hard time focusing, but his memory is great, and he can easily remember small details if he thinks about them long enough.

Donnie had called it photogenic memory before April tore him apart. Or was it photographic?

Maybe Mikey will ask him about it, now that he's come back.

Or, after The Power Inside Her, April can't bring Donnie back. However, Mikey starts to see his brother around as if he never left. If it looks like Donnie and sounds like Donnie, it must be him.

    It has to be him.

Astoundingly good '12 post-"Power Inside Her" where Dee doesn't come back & Mikey refuses to let go.

    Read to be SAD

    Summary

    Inspired by CAS.
Starting at episode 12: Everything is falling apart

As the world falls apart, Leo becomes the leader of what’s left, carrying grief, sacrifice, and impossible choices on his shoulders, especially the loss of his twin. Years pass, hope thins, and survival demands more than anyone should have to give.

Donatello’s death leaves no ghost, no echo, no hope of reunion. Only a silence so complete it fractures Leo from the inside out.

These are the moments of grief during the three years without his other half.

    Summary

    Donnie chuckled under his breath.

    “What?” Raph asked.

“Nothing. I thought that squirrel seemed a little nutty.” Donnie paused, eyebrows raised, but Raph did not give him the satisfaction of a laugh. “Uh, nevermind. The fridge works fine. It’s just the lightbulb that’s out.”

“Oh, great,” Raph said. “Give it a twist and let’s get the hell out of here.”

    “Mikey would’ve laughed.”

    “I’m not Mikey.”

    “No,” Donnie sighed. “You’re not.”

Raph wished he remembered enough about his youngest brother to understand all the nuanced layers of meaning in Donnie’s statement. But since he didn’t, Raph let it pass.

    ------

The M-Bomb has detonated over New York City. Having lost his family and his memory, Raph wanders through an apocalypse with nothing to tie him to his past except his brother, Donatello.

    Will they survive?!?!?! (probably not)

    The '12 Apocalypse Backstory that we-and-the DESERVE. Donnie's skillfully-written journey from M-Bomb to bunny-earred robot-body is perfection. ✨✨✨
