In linguistics, a false friend is a word in a different language that sounds similar to a word in your own, but differs significantly in meaning. No word in any Eridian language could possibly be mistaken for English. But Erid absolutely has false friends.
In his right mind, Grace would easily identify the mistaken assumptions inhibiting his integration on Erid. They are:
1: A molecular biologist and a sapient rock can cobble together translation software that reflects the etymological nuance of an entire alien language.
2: Eridians are enough like humans to have an area 51 and look forward to using it.Unfortunately, Grace hasn’t been in his right mind in years.
Or: a ‘Return to Erid’ story where Grace struggles to touch down alone.

“Okay,” he says, erasing the numbers typed into his phone. “What’s your nanny’s number, then?”
“My what?” Timothy looks scandalized.
“Your babysitter? Whoever is in charge of you while your parents are gone,” he clarifies.
“I’m in charge of me when my parents are gone,” Timothy says proudly, his little chest puffing out. “I’m the Man of the House.”

Summary
Dick and Bruce's relationship is strained at best after he moves out but the more time Dick spends with Jason the more his own tangled pack bonds call out for something more. When he finds his brother alone on the cusp of his first heat Dick will do anything to keep him safe and comfortable; and somewhere along the way he becomes the glue holding their little pack together.
Years later Jason has burned every bridge, he's lucky to even be allowed near the bats, so he takes any scraps of attention he can and tries to live with the grief of a lost pack. He's been struggling through his heats alone in one of his safe houses and hiding it from Bruce and the others when Dick finally gets tired of giving him space.

And he’d survived that. The people of Berk were tough, worn and weathered and rooted down into the earth like the mountain against whose base they had settled.
But Stoick wasn’t so certain anymore that they could survive much longer. Hiccup was gone, but the village still skirted disaster; Astrid was his heir, but the Berk she was inheriting was char and charcoal.
After Hiccup went missing Stoick's certainty in victory against dragons disappeared too. A mysterious Dragon Master offers hope, but hope is a man with a Night Fury for a shadow and a power that brought the tyrant who last bore that title to his knees.

For over ten years, before the sequel, before I even knew AO3 was a thing, I have gone back and read this every time i rewatched HTTYD. Its a fantastic Toothless POV of the movie, except it adds to the world building in every way.
Heck. When the sequels came out, i was disappointed the world they described didnt feel as vibrant as the one in this fic.Im bookmarking it here because it is one of the few reasons i still login to my old ffn account.
