That's not the same as stealing and anyone who says it is is stupid.The half deflated ball that Freddy had kicked onto the school roof just to see if they could? That was Ryland's now. He'd got it down with the help of a drainpipe and a big stick, and he'd fixed it up with bubblegum and a bandaid and it was practically as good as new if you didn't mind blowing it up every half hour.
And the GI Joe that those big kids he doesn't know had blown up in the alley with fire crackers was his as well. They'd melted his left arm all down, and then tried to send him into space with a bottle rocket, so obviously they didn't deserve him, even if they did still want him.

Summary
I found the room in the facility easily enough. It was one of many. Identical little cells with a bed pushed against one wall and hygiene equipment against the other.
There was no one else being held here. I made sure. Leaving some poor fuck here to die of starvation or run out of power was not something I intended to do. It could hold maybe twenty-five in total, but it honestly looked like it was on its way to being decommissioned.
That was probably why they'd stashed Gurathin here. They didn't think that Preservation Alliance would even know where to look.
Luckily, Preservation Alliance had me.

No matter what Grace tries to tell him, Simon is very sure that the man is divine in nature. It just makes sense.

Simon winds up in The Enclosure, naturally. Grace is super down to have human company on planet Erid, but he really wishes someone would have given him a little bit of warning first. Especially about Simon’s religious cult upbringing — if he had known about that, he maybe could have planned a better-worded greeting that wasn’t basically, “Be Not Afraid.” He really set them up for failure with that one.

Ryland Grace is an asexual alpha. Simon, the new and only other human on Erid, happens to be an omega. Grace is terrified that Simon might eventually need him as an alpha... How mortifying! Grace could never satisfy his needs as an omega! So Grace is desperately trying to convey that he is NOT a good potential mate or an alpha in general (he always thought he was a good-for-nothing alpha). He just has to be his usual painfully awkward self and everything will be okay!
But... Grace being caring, respectful, kind and selfless by nature does nothing to help his case as Simon naturally warms up to him with time. Somehow, they will have to figure it out.

This is intended to be a multi-chapter endeavor covering the events of The Hex quest and moving into post-canon storytelling with a set end. As of now it is set to be updated weekly on Saturdays, because I am a sucker with poor impulse control.
7/11 NOTE: No chapter this week. We buried one of my oldest friends this week and I didn't have it in me to do much writing. Should be back to my regular schedule next week. If this had been one of those books, this would be a very dramatic way to go. There would definitely be an emotional speech, some tastefully coughed up blood (which was horribly inaccurate, but they seemed to love any excuse to have someone cough up blood), and maybe a really unearned last minute rescue.
As it was, around the throbbing pain and increasingly blurred vision, I was mostly annoyed.
What a stupid way to die..
