Cleo leaves home for Oakhurst University, where she’s majoring in anthropology. They’re living in Pearl, a woman they’d barely met’s, apartment, broke out of their mind, and running from nothing at all.
Apo comes to Oakhurst on a military scholarship, leaving behind their small town, in the hopes to return and run away with their girlfriend, Cherri, to give her a better life. She’s stressed, broke, and balancing double majors (architecture and social work), military training, and a part time job at an axe throwing pub, all while trying to maintain some kind of social life.

Summary
Cub expected to feel more different, holding a hero captive in his apartment. He doesn't. Everything is almost the same. Get up, stretch, get dressed, greet the sun. Not until he gets to his food is anything is different, the extra oversized danish sitting on his tray a reminder, fresh and still faintly warm.
After checking and rechecking everything known about Hotguy's potential food allergies, everything in the danish cross-references cleanly to things Hotguy has eaten publicly before. Things Cub has seen him eat at city banquets where they’d brushed shoulders. As does the glass of juice Cub pours. Cub's got spreadsheets tracking that information, to make it easier to plan out what food to order. Preparation, to ensure he could handle Hotguy’s needs.
All that's left now is to bring the food to Hotguy.

CEO Cub buys a captured Hotguy at auction, planning some simple autographs for his collection before the hero inevitably escapes. Hotguy finds something else in his time with Cub, though.Series

"Yeah. He's still losing them." Cub plucks the feather Grian was chewing from between his teeth.
"Tsk, tsk. Good thing we've got him now, if this is how poorly he was taking care of himself." Scar pats Grian on the top of his head with a smug curl of smile. "Don't worry, we'll make you better."
One thing that Grian had learned about Vex, is that they cannot lie. What he had learned all too late is how exactly the truth can be twisted into knots with the right kind of belief and omission.
If he weren't already shuddering from the cold, Grian would shudder to think what Scar considers a better version of him to be.

"Bring him to me.” The lingering wisps of Joel’s voice circle around Impulse’s thoughts, keeping him on track as he stumbles out of Joel’s base. A task he must complete. Giddiness bubbles inside him.
In his periphery his implants flash messages that Joel has told him to ignore. Which makes sense, Impulse is supposed to be happy, and the messages don't make him happy. They try to drag him out of this eager bliss, which is unforgivable. Without them, he's free to allow joy to roll through him unimpeded.
Free to spread that joy to others.
