University is a chance to reinvent yourself, to better understand yourself.
Sokka is a first year engineering student with more than his fair share of self doubts ever since his mother - Kya - passed. He carries a lot of regrets and words left unsaid. Zuko is the son of a successful business man who has been banished from home until he completes his business degree and can work for the family. Problem is, he'd much rather be a musician.
It's hard to love yourself. Sometimes, you need someone else to come along and teach you how to do it.

Summary
Sokka needs to rescue his father from an undoubtedly horrible fate at the Boiling Rock and he needs to do it alone to prove himself a capable alpha and restore his honor. If only he could get a certain stupidly infuriating jerkbending omega who doesn't know what self-preservation means let him go alone.
Or: Sokka's desire to be a good son and rescue his father battles with his desire to keep Zuko safe and out of harm's way. Zuko just wants Sokka to stop treating him weird and maybe bust a few guards' heads for stress relief.

Summary
He leaves the drive-thru and enters the main parking lot. He’s about to leave and drive back home when he spots another car parked in the lot. The lights of the car are off, except for a light inside the car, and Sokka catches a quick glimpse of a guy in a red sweater, drinking a milkshake.
Sokka really does not want to be alone with his thoughts right now, so he decides, on a whim, that he’s gonna try and talk to this guy who also apparently had a breakdown tonight.
“Hi, I’m Sokka,” he introduces. “So, I had a breakdown earlier tonight, and I’ve been informed by the all too caring drive-thru staff that I’m not the only one who’s come through after a breakdown, and I’m guessing that other person is you. So, I was wondering if you wanted to come sit on the curb with me and talk about our problems while we have our sweets.”
Or, Sokka and Zuko keep meeting in a McDonald's parking lot and bond through their mutual breakdowns. Turns out, it's easy to spill your heart to a stranger in the middle of the night and create a bond that lasts even in the daylight.

in a world where zuko helped aang from the very beginning, sokka and katara never left the south pole. now that the war is over and their father is finally back home, the world is still not at peace. in an attempt to establish long reigning international peace, fire lord iroh and chief hakoda are the first of the nations to propose an arranged marriage between their people. sokka is betrothed to a man he's never met before. he's nervous about what he'll think about his white hair and tattoos, he's worried that they might not be able to save his dying civilization. unbeknownst to him, an even more dangerous threat looms in the horizon, a threat only he and his love will be able to face.

Summary
Before Toph leaves to see her mother, she decides to take Sokka to her favorite tea shop in Ba Sing Se, the Jasmine Dragon.
Sokka recognizes the tea server and nearly has a heart attack. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately), Toph mistakes his elevated heart rate for attraction and insists on setting him and the server up on a date.
In Sokka's opinion, it could be worse. A date is as good an opportunity as any to get some intel from Zuko.

“Could you…” Sokka’s voice is barely above a murmur, “could you come pick me up?”. He’s looking dazed at his legs splayed out in front of him, watching the rain slide off of his sneakers.
“Where are you?” Zuko says sternly.

Summary
Sokka didn't like spirits and magic, he didn't hate it but it didn't interest him either, he only believed in things he could see. All that magic stuff belonged to Katara, the only person with water magic in the village. He didn't believe in all that and didn't want to be part of it even after a spirit appears to show him his soulmate.

Summary
The first time that Katara bends the water under their feet, Sokka is six years old. Almost immediately, he understands that the magic-water-thingy that Katara just pulled isn’t a very good thing.

When it turns out that Katara's a water bender, Kya and Hakoda decide that the best course of action to keep their daughter safe is to send her up to the Northern Water Tribe, where she can be with other water benders. Kya goes with her.
Hakoda tells Sokka to forget about ever having a sister. He tells him to 'remember' that his mother died when he was born.
As a result, Sokka grows up alone, (never forgetting about Katara or Kya), and this changes everything.
