All Buggy could remember was the shot that was definitely leaded with something akin to seastone piercing her and going down, tumbling as she heard Shanks cry out for her. She thought she would be taken up, to see Roger and Ace, the little brother she didn't know she had until the last minute before anything could be done. Buggy CERTAINLY did not account for this.

Summary
All pirates (except Luffy) are scum. When Portgas D. Ace becomes seventeen he follows his grandpa's footsteps and becomes a Marine, but of course, his path doesn't take him down the road he expects. Sure, he arrests pirates, saves civilians, and randomly falls asleep in his dinner, but he also gets kidnapped repeatedly by the Whitebeard Pirates and flirted with by Marco the Phoenix.
None of that was covered in his training. There was nothing in the Marine handbook about being kidnapped by maniacs who want Ace to join their family, or how to stop an immortal Phoenix from flirting all the time!
