Summary
Shane’s heart drops into his stomach. “Ilya,” he breathes. His vision goes blurry, throat tight. He tries to swallow it down and focus, shove his swirling thoughts into a neat little box, but it’s impossible. He feels—he might throw up, actually. “Are you seriously telling me you tried to fucking kill yourself?”
“Yes,” Ilya agrees blandly, “It did not work.”
Ilya calls Shane from the hospital. Shane handles it very normally.

Summary
"He stumbles to a halt, choking out a painful breath as his chest tightens into a fist. The pain in his shoulders, which had faded in all the drama, rushes back in. Blinking snowflakes off his eyelashes, his lips crack open to fill his lungs with numbing cold air. In-out, in-out. Slowly he manages to uncurl his back. He grimaces. Then he starts jogging home through the heavy falling snow. He needs to get warmed up. Inside and out.
Chris comes home a couple of hours later to find Jensen passed out in the bathtub, with the hot tap trickling steadfastly, and an empty bottle of Jack bobbing in the scalding water."
Or, it’s been a year since Jensen’s mother died and all that trauma has just been waiting to sneak up on him.
