"Don’t worry Chopper,” Nami pipes in, stretching her legs lazily as she slouches back against her sunlounge, “None of that stuff happened anyway.”
“Huh? Then how did you guys meet?”
“Well, the part about the Black Cat pirates and Kuro was true, but that’s about it.”
“Who’s Kuro?” The question comes from their captain, who speaks around a mouthful of food and promptly gags on a swallowed bone.
Nami sighs, all too used to her captain’s disgusting behaviours and selective memory. “The cat butler from Usopp’s village.” She cringes as her captain reaches his fingers down his own throat to pull out the lodged bone. “He tried to kill you.”
“GOLDEN POOP SUIT?”
“HUH?!”

Needs this to be okay, if nothing else is. He’s never been good at apologies, but he’s on a roll, he’s got this. Will has no idea how Mike feels about it, or how he even knows, or if he even knows because- Will knows that Mike gets heated, blurts out things he doesn’t mean, but- they’ve never- he’s never- it’s never been him and- what Mike’s said- he knows, he knows, and Will feels tears well in his eyes, unbidden, and he’s shocked still, shocked silent, but Mike isn’t, Mike knows what he’s done, what he’s said, and he knows why it’s bad, why it’s brought Will to tears, but Will is panicking, and he’s crying but on top of it all he’s mad because-
Mike is the only one who knows, who knows why his dad left, and now he’s using it against him and-

Mike would have stayed up longer, but Will was right. He was tired. So Mike brushes his teeth and changes into his pj’s and gets into bed. He sits and thinks for a moment, just briefly, about the weird feeling that had possessed him in that span of time between last seeing Will and hearing his voice on the phone. He remembers feeling scared of that numb, floaty feeling in the moment, but like all scary things he doesn’t understand, he pushes the feeling far from his mind, and forgets about it.

In which Mike struggles with his feelings for Will, El amicably breaks up with him because he likes will (which, of course, he denies) and gives him the shovel-talk, Max is the voice of reason, Everyone is gay, Mikes feelings are completely obvious to literally everyone (and I do mean everyone), and Mike tries to work up the nerve to tell Will how he feels.
