The softness lights Ratchet’s lines on fire—something about this is so different, though Ratchet recognizes it is not that far off from the rough desperation with which they’ve ‘faced before. Something deep-seated and fragile has been coaxed out of the mech who haunts him, and neither of them are handling it all that well. It’s almost as if both of them are attempting to catch a star in their hands; it’s volatile and glowing, burning them both to the touch. They're both in too deep, now. Perhaps they always have been.
