Despite the blood spattered across his face, Steve Rogers had still been handsome, three days out of Howard Stark’s Vita-Ray machine, with Abraham Erskine’s serum running through his veins. “Good news,” Steve said, “Howard Stark’s bag of magic tricks still works. Bad news: he never fixed the problem where it fried all our kit, not just the bad guys’.”
“Good news,” Natasha said, “found out what Hammer and Sterns were after.”
“Bad news,” Steve said, “it was the Project Rebirth files.”
Six months after the Snap, Earth is slowly putting itself back together, or at least trying to fit its shattered pieces into a semi-functional whole. For Natasha Romanoff, Steve Rogers, and the surviving Avengers, who have spent that time cloistered in New Asgard keeping an eye on King Loki and his people, this means new and old enemies, familiar faces, and coming back to the world – or not.

Ezra froze, feeling his breath catch in his chest, then the creature licked the top of his head and caught one of his ears briefly between his teeth, not hard enough to hurt. He tugged briefly, then released Ezra and licked him again before dropping back to lie full-length on the deck, his hind legs out to one side.
Ezra shifted back to human in a rush and sat down hard on the deck. The creature looked at him and wagged his tail, but made no move to do the same.
He glanced up as Zeb got a hand under his arm and hauled him to his feet. “So?”
“Well, it didn’t eat you.”

During their admittedly brief acquaintance Natasha had come to the conclusion that he found everything equally outlandish and couldn’t be shaken by aliens – gods – whatever – anymore than by the Helicarrier, cell phones, or the fact that the year was 2012. “What happened to it?”
Loki frowned at him for a moment, then shrugged and said, “As best as my brother and I can guess, my counterpart from an apparently unpleasant future and those of you and your lovely lady friend there traveled through time, stole the Tesseract and the scepter, and decamped back to their own time.”
One possibility for what happened in 2012 after Natasha, Steve, and Loki left in Chapter 3 of On Yonder Hill.

Ten years after she vanished during an Imperial raid on a Twi'lek colony, Cham Syndulla sees his daughter Hera for the first time in a hologram -- now wearing the uniform of an Imperial agent and apparently working closely with a human Inquisitor. All Cham wants to do is to bring his long-missing child home to what remains of her family, but he soon finds that Hera Syndulla is only interested in two things: her duty to the Empire and her loyalty to her crew, a mismatched collection of outcasts brought together by Hera and her pet Inquisitor.
