Summary
Ignoring an obvious bid for Quinlan to get over his fear of planes after an unfortunate emergency landing on one of his solo trips, Quinlan shoves a clipboard in his hands. “Well, lucky for you, boredom ends here. You’ve got your work cut out for you. Ti told me to pass this on to you.”
Obi-Wan hums, swallowing a hot mouthful of tea and reaching for the reading glasses in his breast pocket. “New patient?”
“Been here about a week and he’s already cycled through three different counselors. No one knows what to do with him.”
Amusement sparkles in Obi-Wan’s chest. “Oh?” Anakin Skywalker, Age 20, Hair Color Brown, Eye Color Blue, On Venlafaxine and Mirtazapine… double whammy effort to nip major depression when nothing else does it. Poor kid. “Have you tried?”
“I threw my hat in the ring, actually. Shaak Ti was one of the three who tried to click with him, and she personally advised I stay out of this one. Said she thinks Skywalker and I share ‘strong personalities’ which is to say that I would just piss him off.”
Obi-Wan tries and fails to suppress a snort.

Summary
“For xahx’s sake,” Obi-Wan hisses, stumbling to his feet. He has to focus very hard on keeping his gaze firmly on the boy’s face, Force’s sake, it’s a human boy with wings— “What are you? Who are you?”
The boy cowers back on the cave floor, eyes wide. “I’m sorry, Jedi, I didn’t mean to fall asleep, I was going to wait until daylight to turn!”
“To—to turn?” Obi-Wan covers his face with his hands, feeling a noticeable flush on his cheeks from the shock of waking up to a naked young man on his lap. His voice is sharp. “Are you a shapeshifter? Ekkai?”
“Dai,” the boy breathes in response. Obi-Wan notices a tremble in his limbs; he feels a pang of guilt in the pit of his stomach and tries to soften his posture in response. “The Force.” He points at himself.
Obi-Wan inhales slowly through his nose.
“You know of the Jedi, then?” He asks, keeping his voice measured.
“The Jedi,” the boy confirms. “The Sith.”
Instantly, the Force screams out like alarm bells.

Summary
Who did Obi-Wan have to blame, really?
There was no one but himself.
Himself, his ugly, open wound of an attachment, festering, infected with green and black pus and rot, and his inability to take the bandage off and show Anakin the damage he’s done to himself by reopening the gash every time Anakin tried to show his own wound.
All he did was keep covering both of their injuries.
Someday, the blood would catch infection, and they would both perish with the rash of yearning staining their skin, unsated.
But at this particular moment, only Obi-Wan was bleeding.

Summary
Submitting to a slave master was involuntary. It was the smell of sweat on his own skin from fear—the hot, cutting sting of a whip or a crop on his small, trembling back, the sickness of a nervous stomach as he tried to explain a minuscule mistake or trespass of rules that blows up into a full interrogation. Those few days under Darth Sidious’s complete control were not so different. The more he thinks about the years since he was a young boy under his influence, the more shame writhes in his stomach and eats away at the flesh like maggots, for how could he be so stupid? So gullible?
With Obi-Wan, it’s not like that.
Fear is replaced by a safety so complete and all-encompassing that it brings tears of relief to his eyes. It’s a safety that comes from knowing He will not let you waste away in your shame. He will forgive you your endless list of mistakes. He will not let you hurt anyone else.

Summary
Three years have passed since Obi-Wan last laid eyes on Anakin.
Intellectually, he knows what's changed. The holonet has chronicled every step of Anakin's life once journalists learned about Senator Amidala's scandalously young husband, tapping directly into a vein of headlines that they never tire of mining. Former Padawan, expelled from the Order, had screamed the headline post-marriage announcement, and once the public got a taste for the drama, for the fairytale tragedy of it all, the machine was set in motion.
Obi-Wan might not have chosen to keep such close tabs on his former student if it were up to him, but he’s made peace with maintaining a connection to the youth who used to follow him around everywhere, the person he thought of when he woke up and when he went to sleep—
Yet Anakin Skywalker-Amidala in the flesh is not something he could ever be prepared for.

Summary
Anakin remembers going on another routine mission.
Then, he wakes up in the Temple's Halls of Healing with grave, lasting injuries and no recollection of what has happened. Obi-Wan won't explain anything. His former Master is sick with guilt and behaves strangely, but how bad could it have really been?
Perhaps there's a reason why Obi-Wan doesn't want him to remember. And Anakin won't know until it's too late.

Summary
As nervous as Anakin was, hyper-conscious of the sweat on the back of his neck and his itchy palms, Obi-Wan Kenobi gave no indication of noticing. The veteran actor shook his hand while smiling, eyes crinkling at the corners.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Anakin. Thank you for taking this role on short notice; we almost started filming without our lead."
"It's, um, good to meet you too," Anakin said.
Ventress, his agent, leaned in close and clicked her tongue. "Well, isn’t this lovely? He's normally a lot more feral than this. Good job, Kenobi. I might make him a household name yet.”
Anakin shot her a nasty look.
Ventress, being Ventress, curled her lip at him.

Summary
“So your life means nothing in the face of a win for the Republic?”
“What?”
Obi-Wan tips his head up to stare at the ceiling panel, but does not lose the determination setting his jaw. “Why do you think your life does not mean anything?”
Heart galloping at Obi-Wan’s question, Anakin grapples for his earlier irritation. “Isn’t this how the whole blasted thing is supposed to go?” he forces himself to scoff, eyes flickering every which direction in their shared tent but unable to hold his Master’s gaze.
“No,” rasps Obi-Wan, “it’s not.” A look Anakin can only describe as devastation paints the Jedi Master’s striking visage into a pinched veneer. “How could you believe such a thing?”

Summary
Obi-Wan smiled. “But I’m right? Those are the rules?”
Anakin released his seatbelt and flashed a cocky smirk. “No strangers and no bottoming. Your loss,” he confirmed.
Anakin felt a rush of pure, unadulterated triumph, his chest swelling with the satisfaction of having utterly outmaneuvered a man so much older, wealthier, and more composed than himself. It was the ultimate high – proving that his wit was sharper than Obi-Wan’s tailored suits and that his boundaries were the only ones that mattered here. He was ready to bask in the older man’s defeat.
Yet, all of a sudden, came:
“How about a bet?”
