Summary
Asami Sato can say no. She can refuse to believe that the world is on the edge of something beyond terror and comprehension. She can reject the possibility that grieving for the death of her father is necessary, as he was already dead to her once before. She can close your eyes, cover her ears and convince herself that everything is fine. That she's fine. Through grinding teeth and a belly full of rage, she's fine.
All of these problems, these impossible problems with no solution that involve science humanity was never meant to understand, are manageable. Spirit weapons are a terrifying threat, yes, and the fuel for them literally grows on trees, but she can fix it.

“Could I get your number?” they ask, as if they’re not still a completely faceless enigma that’s been making one-sided passes for two weeks now.
“So I’m supposed to exchange messages with someone who I wouldn’t even be able to pick out of a police lineup if this ends up being just a long con to get me to join a cult?”
To her shock, they place an elbow on the bar, lean over, and lower the hood.
“Does this increase my chances?” they ask with a goofy smile.
They're cute. Like 90s teen drama cute. Like Catra could see them singing fucking annoying pop songs outside her window cute. That’s not good. This person is absolutely trouble.
“Fuck,” Catra breathes out. It kinda feels like someone just kicked her right in the gut in a thrilling way. “You couldn’t have the decency to make this easier by being ugly?”
Catra finally meets the woman of her dreams/nightmares, a goofball blonde with big captain save-a-ho energy. She's easy going, gets Catra's jokes, and likes her band, even though it's pretty shitty and Catra's sabotaging them from the inside. It's just a shame that the girl is already competing on a reality show for 20 women's hearts.

Non-linear AU in which Catra is Bow and Glimmer's surrogate, and in which the lines between friendship, love, parenthood and survivorship blur. Summary
All should be well for Adora and Catra. They have successfully escaped from that netherworld between dimensions—defeated the cruel magical entity known as Chasm, and returned Angella to her family. And they are together now, back on Etheria. Safe from Chasm in a universe where peace still reigns.
But regardless of how she tries, or how Catra attempts to soothe her, Adora cannot shake her unease. Images of Chasm and wounded loved ones continue to torture Adora in vivid nightmares, nightmares that cannot be treated or willed away. Nightmares that force Adora to wonder whether Chasm dealt Adora some kind of lifelong curse, back before her escape from Chasm's dreamworld.
And worst of all, even with a dimension of separation between them...Adora cannot quell the fear that Chasm might someday return. Return, and again seek She-Ra's power for herself.

Adora had been asked out a couple times just this year alone and the girls had all been smart, beautiful, and on paper even good for her.
Starla still stuck out in her mind. For all intents and purposes, she was perfect for her. They were both English majors. She got Adora’s dorky sense of humor. She was a good listener. She went out of her way to take care of Adora making sure she didn’t stress herself out to the point of passing out when she decided to take on almost a double course load sending her “take a break” reminder texts most of the semester. They even went to the same fucking horse camp growing up even though they never met while there. There was just one problem.
There was always just one problem.
Adora had been in love with Catra since one brown eye and one blue eye met her own in Kindergarten, offering her two broken crayons as she wailed long after Hope had dropped her off on the first day of school.
