She hears his joyful laughter before the light clears to reveal him already spinning around, trying to take in every bit of his new form. He's almost tripled in size, his whole body elongated, the top half lightened in colour and crowned with a banner of flowing blue hair. She can hardly believe this is the same Pokemon who'd leapt so easily into her arms on that stage all those weeks ago, but his eyes shine just as they did then, even without the torches to brighten them.
"Did you see that?" Haro yells, racing down the beach towards them. Sherri doesn't have time to admit that she actually kind of didn't; he skids to a stop in front of her, eyes wide, and says "Hey, I bet you could still carry me!"

"Well," says the man who Tommy's pretty sure is the reason he saw the G-Man this morning, "Tommy's like, five."
Tommy starts to be horribly offended— before the drilled-in panic of being recognized as a Being outside of the timestream cuts that off, which is in turn aborted by the multi-dimensional math necessary to work out how old he is in relation to the jumps, so by the time he finally manages to say, "What year is it?"
...He's saying it to nobody.
(In 2020, Tommy is kind of six-and-a-half, kind of newly thirty-seven, and kind of extremely hateful of the trains that take him between enough time periods that it's difficult to remember either of those numbers. This fic mostly looks at the years before then, though.)

Summary
Wow, this guy asked a lot of questions. He looked adorably lost. Tommy could point him in the right direction, but his mention of the break room reminded him of the nonsense on the wall in there, and he fought down a snort of laughter. Maybe the new guy would appreciate the signs.
