Summary
After an anger-driven confrontation goes awry, Bucky is given the opportunity of a lifetime — a second chance at what he so stupidly let slip away from him. But it seems there’s more going on in Steve’s head than Bucky anticipated, and it’s going to take more than a fancy monologue and a few shed tears to regain what he lost.
One thing’s for sure, though — he let Steve go once, and mark his words, he won’t make that mistake again.

Summary
Figuratively, of course. It’s all just figurative. His parents’ growing ignorance is figurative. His relationship with El slipping away from him is just figurative. Hell, apparently his worry that the Party is growing apart is just figurative. It’s figurative. It’s fake. It’s not real and it never will be.

Summary
Yearning for someone else’s love, he knows, is nothing but a recipe for disaster. He discovered this in the bathroom at the Halloween party all that time ago, (was it even that long ago?) when Nancy called him and their entire relationship bullshit. He discovered it when he found out Nancy and Jonathan had slept together before she’d even broken up with him. He discovered it when Nancy couldn’t tell him she loved him, when she couldn’t say the words he’d longed to hear for so long. The words no one had ever told him.

Summary
But him? He was just regular old Steve Harrington, the kids’ chauffeur and part-time babysitter, and the one who had only even been there to experience half of the things everyone else had. He didn't have the right to feel traumatized. Hell, the only remotely “traumatizing” thing he’d gone through was Billy smashing a plate on his head, and that had been one time. One measly thing compared to the dozens of the others.

Summary
Part of him knew that it would always be like this with Nix, the constant feeling of being on edge, missing the earth below his feet. Perhaps he’d touch the ground safe and sound this time, both legs intact, but there would be another jump and another and another, and he would never know which jump would be the one to break his neck.
Then again, his mother had seen right through him with the whole paratrooper thing: forget the money, forget the glory, forget being with the best of the best. Deep down, he had a reckless streak.

Summary
Growing up, Dennis thought praying with verses from the Bible was more powerful. As if he could use evidence from the Book to prove why whatever he was asking for was good and right. Now, he wonders if it was a crutch. A way to get around having to put his faith into his own words. I would have made a terrible priest, he thinks.
Dennis shakes his head. Now isn’t the time for self-pity, he should be focusing on Teddy. Dennis tries to come up with a verse, but it’s been a while since he reread the Bible. Only Isaiah 40 comes to mind. Let Teddy soar on wings like eagles, Dennis thinks. Let him run and not grow weary. Let him walk and not be faint.
Please, Dennis thinks more desperately. Let him beat the odds.
or, the first week+a day of Dennis being an emergency medical student and Santos' roommate. He isn't quite sure he's meant to be either.

Summary
“I’d ask if you slept okay, but you look like shit, so I’m gonna guess not.”
Whitaker gulps down a mouthful of water too quickly and coughs. “I slept fine,” he says hoarsely. Trinity raises a skeptical eyebrow, tossing the balled-up paper towel between her hands. “Really,” he insists. “It’s been a while since I’ve slept without keeping one eye on the door.” He ducks his chin again, all “gee, shucks” farmboy sheepish, and the tops of his ears are pink. “Thank you for…all of this. It really means a lot.”
The earnestness makes Trinity want to poke meanly at his stomach until he curls over it protectively. She squeezes the paper towel tighter instead. “Whatever. I had the room. It’s no big deal.”

Summary
He closes his eyes, and to his relief, it’s easy. It’s the easiest thing he’s ever done.
On May 18, 2000, after being confronted with the options of rehab or getting fired, John Carter makes a different choice. It's a way worse choice. An alternate ending to May Day where Carter OD's instead.
