Summary
Lucerys does not die over the waters of Blackwater Bay. Instead, something older pulls Aemond under. The body that washes up on the beach of Dragonstone a week later is brutalized and could barely be called a person, and yet Aemond persists at clinging stubbornly to life.

Summary
He shows up on Christmas Eve broken and bleeding and eating the scraps from the cat's dinner in the garage.
He expected a fight, truly he did, but Aemond is not he enemy here, although perhaps his mind might be trying to kill him.
Daemon comes home fresh off a deployment that lasted over a year, he returns to a family and the usual family drama; Aegon is horrible Cole still hates him and Aemond is...well they don't talk about Aemond.
But the night turns sour when Aemond shows up in Daemon's garage and suddenly he is pulled into a great and terrible conspiracy with Aemond at the center; Aemond who speaks to ghosts in his head and doesn't know where he is half the time.
Aemond who somehow has become the face of a major terrorist organization in the years since he went AWOL after enlisting under his brother's name.
The country must be saved, but who will save Aemond from these demons that seem keen to drown him in the screams of things only he can seem to hear? -

It is the night of that fateful dinner before good King Viserys the First dies from his illness.
Alicent Hightower has done all she can to beg her sons to behave and not make fools of themselves, but it seems as though the gods did not listen.
Or perhaps the wrong gods heard her prayers and decided to answer in their own capricious way.
For it was oft whispered in the depths of the keep that Targaryens were not simply dreamers and dragon riders, but a select few could cross that forbidden threshold between man and beast-shedding the confines of their human skins and donning the sharp glass scales of the dragons that blazed bright red upon the sigil of their house.
She believed it to be folly, but alas the gods are cruel, and her son Aemond sheds his skin in the midst of his mocking toast to his nephews, and steps forth a dragon.
A relatively small dragon- but a dragon, nonetheless.
She wonders if she has been given a second chance by the gods to properly parent and guide her second son so that he does not send himself to an early grave in the depths of his own pride. -

She was never very good at making good decisions.
