When Grian Xelqua, a journalist from Watchers Daily, is sent to Isla Nublar to write about the developing theme park, he doesn't expect to end the trip running for his life. Nor does he expect to have to learn how to fix a Jeep (Dinomobile) while a dinosaur tries to eat him. But, he's always up for learning experiences!
Joel Smallish, an expert biologist and dinosaur enthusiast, has only one goal: to train his Velociraptors to hunt properly. It's a shame that their genetic modifications are messing with that.
Etho Slab, caretaker of the Mosasaurus at the future Jurassic World, notes down the behaviour of the new dinosaur very carefully. One question looms: Will the park ever be safe for the public?
Scar Goodtimes, a local biologist with an affinity for dinosaurs, has another question: What will happen to the dinosaurs if it's not?

And they both lunge.
It’s not clear who’s winning the fight this time. Previously, Scar had obviously been losing, his punches weak and missing, while Grian’s had landed strong and true. Now, they’re both sloppy, because Grian can’t handle the feeling of flesh against his knuckles. Not again.
But Scar realizes this, and he smiles sadly. “We can’t both lose, G,” he warns, and Grian laughs, choking it out as it sounds more like a sob.
“I can’t win,” he tells him, and Scar smiles back, grimly. Then the other breaks through the cactus behind him, backing toward the cliff as he steps backward.
“Yes, you can.”

Gem is tired of sand. She's tired of fighting for her life, of brushing dust from her hair, and of being constantly worried that her brother is going to die in front of her eyes.
Fwhip is worried. After being separated from his sister for years, he can't tell if he knows her at all anymore. They've both changed. They've all changed.
Grian is determined to make it out of this. He's made it this far, why can't he keep going? He's not going to lose to a stupid Zombie. It's not going to happen.
Scar can't remember. There's something there, in the back of his mind, that he can't reach. He doesn't know where he's from, nor where he's going, but he will survive. He has to.
