    "Wei Ying deserves nice things," Lan Zhan says, in that gentle yet firm tone, and it's almost frightening how quickly he has gotten used to this. Wei Wuxian has never felt like he's owned - not in the way that Madam Yu claims his wants and dictates what he should feel, but in a way where he felt so wanted, Lan Zhan's hand subtle yet grounding over Wei Wuxian's hips, warm even through layers of silk and denim.

    Even if Jiang Cheng was right and he is a kept man, Wei Wuxian thinks it's all right, when Lan Zhan keeps him with such gentle care. When he makes Wei Wuxian feel so safe.

    Do not go near Wei Ying.

    The words are clear and concise, etched neatly into the unyielding stone of Gusu Lan's wall of rules by Grandmaster Lan Qiren himself. It's unmistakable too, having the Wei character for ghost and Ying for infant - Clearly meant to allude towards one specific person living in the Cloud Recesses.

    For a long time, Lan Jingyi has always taken Grandmaster Lan's chiding of him "not upholding Gusu Lan conduct appropriately," with some measure of practiced aplomb. Years of being under Hanguang-Jun's careful tutelage has taught him that there is more to being righteous and moral than mere writings on the wall, and Jingyi has learned to shrug off the more arbitrary reprimands of his home Sect.

    But as he stands before the Discipline wall, he doesn't think he wants to do that this time. To simply shrug it off and let it go. And from the carefully concealed frowns on his fellow disciples' faces, he suspects that he might not be alone in his sentiment.

    Lan Qiren straightens.

    “Do you wish to come inside?” he asks, “I can make tea.”

    Wei Wuxian startles, as though the offer itself surprises him.

    “O-Oh, Lan-laoshi, I possibly couldn’t impose-”

    Lan Qiren huffs, already stepping aside.

    “Get in, boy,” he says, not unkindly, “You’re terrified. I’m making tea.”

    Lan Qiren is marking history essays when he hears a knock on the door. He finds that out that the person knocking is Wei Wuxian, who is absolutely terrified, much unlike the young omega Lan Qiren has the displeasure of teaching at school.

    Wei Wuxian comes along with unexpected news.
