“ Maybe I would be less annoyed had it not been brought up a subjective one million times (and an objective two dozen) how it was “nice to have everyone back together” on a “peaceful survey this time”. Ratthi had made sure to comment that for all that the first survey had been a “total nightmare” it was “worth it to have met you SecUnit!” That had given me the same melty feeling in my chest that I’d gotten when Mensah had told me she saw me “as a person just trying to help” back on that first survey together.
I was trying not to think about that though. Not that, or the way my drones captured Ratthi’s grin when he’d spoken. Or any of the melty and soft feelings my humans gave me sometimes. But especially not Ratthi. Because if I thought about him at all, I’d have to think about his blood on my face.”
Set in a mix of the Book Universe & the TV Universe, Murderbot and the PresAux crew are on another planetary survey mission. Everything is peaceful until it isn’t and Murderbot gets trapped in a nightmarish Time Loop like something out of one of its serials. Murderbot is hellbent on saving its humans and breaking free of the loop whatever it takes.

Summary
After stumbling, somewhere in the depths of the galaxy, across a threat against Dr. Mensah, Murderbot visits the world the trail leads it to, to uncover more through the subtle art of undercover investigation, prevent evil plans from being carried out, and maybe murder a few people in the process. It did not expect to find Gurathin there, doing the exact same thing, except (maybe, kind of, possibly) better. This development is either the best or the worst thing to happen during this mission that keeps putting Murderbot into an increasing number of uncomfortable situations it absolutely is not cut out for.
(Aka, the things both Muderbot and Gurathin are willing to do for Mensah and Preservation... out of which working with each other is, somehow, not the worst.)

ART bot didn’t give me a look even though I could tell it really wanted to.
Instead it said, It wouldn’t make a difference to me if you were.
Oh that was irritating. For a lot of reasons. Most of all the way it made my face do something stupid and warm again.
Murderbot needs some coping skills. Luckily it has an extremely shitty list of them and it might just be willing to let ART help it use one of them on a trip to a university nature preserve. (After threatening it with the end of its energy weapon a bit first obviously). Even bots need to touch some grass sometimes. And maybe each other too.
