Cas is a seasoned witch. Practically born into it after being raised by his Aunt Amara.
So he should've known better.
The spell was supposed to be a simple protective spell; he felt confident enough that he could execute this kind of spell. It wasn’t very challenging, just specific ingredients but it did take a lot of power from the witch.
He growls to himself as he wiggles under the invisible ropes.

Blinking away the last bit of sleep, Cas peered around his dimly lit room. It was still really early, the sky just light enough to cast his room in shades of blue and gray. He yawned, trying to rub his eyes when he realized he really couldn't move his arms.
Cas jerked in bed, twisting around as best he could to find his wrists were tied together to the headboard, right above his head. he couldn't even sit up, not with how low they were tied.
And they were tied with his favorite blue tie.

The abandoned buildings are cool, and it’s a pretty good distraction from the indignities of his real life– taking care of Sammy, keeping up at school, and trying to figure out if he drunkenly confessed his gay feelings to that one weird guy who keeps showing up at Charlie’s events.

Dean struggles to commit to a long term relationship with Cas, even though he knows he's in it for the long haul. Cas helps tease out what's holding him back, and provides some much-needed reassurance.

Summary

Summary
It wasn't always easy being an angel, but Cas was powerful, felt powerful, he could magic away most bruises and tears. It was his thing. His angel mojo, as Dean liked to call it, was the one thing he could do, the one thing he depended on. He didn't think about the possibility of that thing being gone someday, disappearing with his grace and his wings. And the problem with being a one-trick-pony is, of course, that when you can't do the trick anymore you're just a pony - and a useless one at that.
