Bruce gave him a flat look.
“Or maybe I think I can help.”
“With a case of vandalism?”
Clark stepped in front of him. “It’s not vandalism and you know it, detective.”
“And what makes you say that?”
“If it were vandalism it would be something a lot more juvenile. To the point. It wouldn’t claim there were seventeen missing kids. That’s public outcry.”
“Is that so?”
“That and I tried to do a story on the growing number of homeless children last month and I got shut down. According to the last count, the numbers have been decreasing, but there’s been no change in policies, no extra funding to CPS, or shelters, or even an increase in the number of inmates in the juvenile detention center. So where are they going?”
Detective Bruce Wayne may have the highest solve rate in Gotham, but if he wants to solve this case, he’ll need the help of an elusive street kid, and while Dick Grayson always lands on his feet, he usually lands himself right into trouble.

What he hadn’t expected was being able to tell that Slade had it just as fucking bad.
And all Dick could say, breathlessly, was, "I’m wrapped around your finger? Really?”"Slade, you would do anything for me. Anything. And you'd never ask for anything in return. Are you telling me you seriously thought, all this time, that you were the only one playing this game?"

Slade and Dick met back up during a job, and Slade may have started with intent to convince Dick to come back to his side... But somewhere along the line, the tables turned, and somehow Slade has ended up the one who can't say no to Dick.
And the worst part is probably that, while they're both completely aware of this and Slade has long-since made peace with the fact that he'll do anything Dick asks without hesitation, Dick always feels guilty when he uses it to his advantage. But there are some things, Slade guesses, that you just can't expect people like Dick to be okay with.
Emotional manipulation is one of them.

I’ve got a few other things lined up for tonight.”
