At first, it had seemed like the good-luck fairy was finally giving Kaz a visit. A well-deserved visit, if he's being honest.
Sure, a year-long bus pass costs almost a thousand dollars. But there's been a lot of citywide system glitches, and well, who is Kaz to complain?
And the notebooks, they cost at least six hundred dollars for the set of 12. Right when he'd been on his last one, too. And the exact brand he had complained to Chase about wanting.
Well, really, Kaz should've known. You can't complain to a billionaire about stuff that's pocket change to him. -

At the end of the day, Jeremy approaches Michael at his locker. He can feel the nerves bubbling under his skin.
"Hey, Michael?" he starts. Michael hums in his direction, slinging his headphones around his neck and shutting his locker. "Do you want to go to dinner with me?"
Michael blinks slowly. "Uh, yeah. Sure."
Jeremy smiles wide as the nerves turn to nervous jitters. "Chili's?"
"Duh, bro. Boy's dinner at Chili's is a tradition."

Sebastian is looking like he's going to jump Chase at any moment, which is rare but almost always well received.
Chase is more focused on wringing his hair out than Sebastian moving about the room. Sebastian stands in front of Chase, looking slightly uneasy. Chase looks up from the ground, raising an eyebrow at Sebastian. "What's up?" Sebastian bites his lower lip, eying Chase's bare chest.

Normally, he wouldn't sit on Michael. Normally, he wouldn't breathe smoke into Michael's face. Normally, he doesn't think about leaning in to pull smoke from Michael's mouth, then go just a little further to kiss him.
Normally, he wouldn't complain about Michael wearing sweats and a hoodie in the basement, which is cooler than outside, but still seventy degrees at the moment.
Michael blows a little ring with the smoke, giggling a little when it makes Jeremy wrinkle his nose.

Summary
After all that, Michael and Jeremy are still friends. Not the same kind of friends, too much has changed for that. But still friends. Michael is and will always be Jeremy's best friend, even if that isn't reciprocal.
It's awkward, it's stilted. Michael's physical form still fits in Jeremy's arms the same, and he takes up the same amount of space in Jeremy's room, but the idea of Michael doesn't fit the same. There's a gap, some edges that are straighter than they used to be, with no allowance for deviation.
It's not Michael's fault. It might be Jeremy's, if he listens to the voices left in the aftermath.
He rarely does.

My silly little rewrite of a kid's show that ended years ago
(all of which are prone to retconning on a whim lol (think of these as drafts, as they could change while the plot develops))
