Another world ending calamity has hit Gotham, this time- aliens. How festive.
When their only hope of survival nose dives into an unknown danger, it's up to the most heroic of their family to take the stand. Too bad Batman has the bulk of a blundering bull, and the door to victory happens to be the size of a cat flap - looks like Damian is going to have to figure this out on his own.
In an unknown world, with significantly less capes and significantly more spandex, Damian looks for assistance. And hey, a billionaire with a business centered on his last name and who happens to be a hero? Looks like Batman may exist in this world after all.

He sounded outraged, but all that Tim felt was fear.

Bile built up in the back of Tim's throat. He was going to throw up. He was going to throw up.
Damian turned over and puked onto the ground.

Damian and Tim are kidnapped, brutally tortured, and bonded together. Now, their minds are fused and attached, and they are subjected to vicious training for a purpose neither knows.

Martin couldn’t remember exactly when or why he’d joined the Knights of the Lonely. He supposed that was by design.
Knights of the Lonely weren’t meant to last long. They were built to take blows, and, if necessary, they were built to die. He supposed that suited him fine.
But upon an assignment to escort the Watcher’s betrothed to the Kingdom of Beholding, Martin began to realize that, perhaps, there was something he was missing. Perhaps it was in the shape of a person with bright, intelligent eyes and acerbic wit, with prickly edges and a gentle smile when he thought no one was looking.
There was only one problem. He wasn’t meant to let the Watcher’s betrothed reach the kingdom alive.
