“..Did you know that the real sun can turn people blind if they look at it?” A far higher pitched Ivan asked from beside him. The contrast to the current Ivan’s deep, bassy voice was strange.
“Wha-? That’s stupid! No way it’s true!” Till had exclaimed.
“I wanna see it,” he decided.
Ivan responded, “Maybe we can see it together.” Till looked back at Ivan to see the other boy truly smiling. His lips stretched out to show all of his teeth in a genuine grin.

Amusement flashes briefly in Ivan’s eyes and there’s a hand reaching up as he coughs too, he’s covering his mouth, ever the image of perfection and manner’s drilled into him that he can’t even shake the habit now, in moments that could very well be his last.
“You finally looked at me.” He says and something inside Till fractures, splitting, breaking into pieces.

Summary
Tsukasa, a relatively renowned chef in a port town, one day hops on a boat and goes out to sea. There, he finds a man unconscious and floating on a plank of wood. Pitying the man's situation, Tsukasa decides to take him in, and now they live together.
The man, whose name was Rui, claims to be a geologist who specializes in marine minerals. Due to a recent shipwreck incident, he can't walk properly without tripping or stumbling. His injuries also prevent him from sailing back to his homeland and geologist society.
With the rise of sea people sightings, odd happenings and gift-giving lately, Tsukasa tries to grasp the true nature of the sea creatures whilst also wondering why Rui was making himself cosy in his temporary home.

It’s not often that Tenma Tsukasa is out of rehearsal before the evening, especially on a Friday.
It’s also not often that Tenma Tsukasa visits other people’s houses uninvited. Not if they’re sick, anyway. Saki worry and everything.
But, well, he knows he’s a weak man when it comes to certain people even if he’d rather eat his own shoe than ever admit it, so here he is anyway, walking up to the doorstep of Rui’s house with a bag full of things he’d picked up from the convenience store on the way and raising a fist to knock on the door.
In which Rui’s fallen sick and Tsukasa’s caretaker instincts kick in.

Violet eyes like a storm meet his between land and sea. Like a lightning bolt, his gaze is piercing and splintering all at once.
A fair face scrunched up in distaste. Such pretty features put to waste.
“Congratulations,” the stranger says, tone dripping with disdain. He crosses his arms over his chest. “You’ve put your entire lineage to shame. Aren’t the Kaedeharas a noble clan?”
“They were,” Kazuha says. Nothing about the smell of this stranger betrays anything. Still, his hand never leaves his sword. “How do you know who I am?”

tsukasa’s breath hitches. it’s like rui’s actively following the narrator’s words, despite saying he hasn’t finished the documentary. perhaps he is, with how he is close enough that tsukasa can feel his steady breathing, ghosting against his neck, warm enough to send shivers down his spine. it was outrageous! having chosen to keep him up with his show but seeming to be dozing off suspiciously quick. maybe he wasn’t even sleeping.
“as we can see here, the platypus has accepted the proposal,” the narrator continues after a brief pause for the pair to splash around, “and the courtship is complete.”
another pause. the narrator’s haunting words swim in tsukasa’s barely coherent mind.
was rui trying to court him? in his sleep?
