He lay down and felt Soap's warm arms around him in a second. They've done it before, it was well rehearsed by now. And each time, Ghost felt the meaning of 'all yours — all mine' changing, shifting to something much more significant and better.

The dogs would dig their canines deep into the throats of enemy soldiers and rip their flesh apart, on command, quick, no hesitation, blood splattering everywhere. It would have almost been a thrilling sight if he wasn't imagining his own body being the one chewed apart. And after the missions, he would see others petting the dogs and treating them and all he could do was shudder at the stark contrast of their cold-blooded murders and the puppy eyes.
He didn't understand it. All they were supposed to know was violence, no? Just like him. So watching them be smothered in affection felt wrong. It made him feel wrong to his fucking core. —
