    An AU where the four nations speak different languages:

    The plan had been simple...

    Step 1. Break the Avatar out of the Pohuai Stronghold.
    Step 2. Drag the Avatar back to his ship.
    Step 3. Sail home.
    Step 4. Present the Avatar to his father and have his honor restored.

    Nowhere in the plan had Zuko accounted for becoming injured and the Avatar dragging him back to their camp. It certainly hadn't accounted for them taking him prisoner. Nor had it accounted for the added complication of Avatar's companions not having the decency to learn the Common Dialect. Only the Avatar understands him and communication in the group is a tangled mess.

    Because when you don't speak the same language, how can you find a Common Ground?

    The tragedy that befell Lucerys Velaryon at Storm’s End was never planned, on this all of our sources agree. The first battles in the Dance of the Dragons were fought with quills and ravens, with threats and promises, decrees and blandishments. The murder of Lord Beesbury at the green council was not yet widely known; most believed his lordship to be languishing in some dungeon. Whilst sundry familiar faces were no longer seen about court, no heads had appeared above the castle gates, and many still hoped that that the question of succession might be resolved peaceably.

    The Stranger had other plans. For surely it was his dread hand behind the ill chance that brought the two princelings together at Storm’s End, when the dragon Arrax raced before a gathering storm to deliver Lucerys Velaryon to the safety of the castle yard, only to find Aemond Targaryen there before him.

    And with Lucerys's death, the war of ravens and envoys and marriage pacts came to an end, and the war of fire and blood began in earnest.

    Or, Lucerys is killed over Shipbreaker Bay as he was always fated to be. Only this time he doesn't stay dead.

    All Sansa could think of as snow twirled and the wind howled around her was that her lips were blue by the cold, her hands were puffy and red, slowly becoming livid at the fingertips and even the ember of the Heart Tree had turned to frost as the words on her lips.

    Pale. The woman was pale, unresponsive as the Maester busied himself at her bedside. The only spark of color was the red of her matted hair. He wondered which color her eyes were.

    Sapphires. Her eyes were the color of sapphires.
