Summary
“I’m Bobby, by the way.” The man looked at him expectantly, waiting for Evan to answer. Bobby then raised an eyebrow, further trying to prompt an answer out of him. But instead of giving him his name Evan simply muttered “Doesn’t matter.”
“Of course it matters.” Bobby told him, smiling kindly before the pair started walking.
Evan shoved his hands in his pockets, “No, it really doesn’t.”
“Well, is there a nickname I could use instead?”
“Why do you care?” He huffed.
“I need to call you something.”
Evan frowned, no one had ever cared enough for that, but then again the only people he knew were his family and they didn’t care about him, at least not about him as a person. ‘Evan’ was the name of the thing they’d created to keep Daniel alive, and now ‘Evan’ wasn’t needed, he’d been discarded, so he might as well get rid of the name too.
He hesitated for a second before saying “Buck, you can call me Buck.”

Summary
He tried to imagine a life that wasn’t permanently braced for survival.
Just existing.
Just waking up in the morning without expecting a tragedy to be waiting around the next corner.
And maybe that was the most frightening part of all, because Buck knew how to survive chaos, knew how to function in disaster, knew exactly who he was when the world was on fire. What he didn’t know was what to do if, by some absurd miracle, things finally turned out okay.
Or, an AU loosely inspired by Shameless where Evan and Maddie Buckley were never Margaret and Philip’s kids, and Daniel was never the only sibling they had. Daniel still dies. Maddie still leaves. And Buck — too young, carrying more than anyone his age ever should — stays. With a house full of siblings, unpaid bills piled across the kitchen table, and kids too young to understand why the people they love always seem to leave, Buck does what he’s always done best: he stays, he fights, he survives. Years later, Los Angeles still feels like the promise of a fresh start — but this time, Buck isn’t going alone.

“Ghost and Bones—it even sounds like a good team, doesn't it?”
“It sounds right spooky, Cap,” tittered Soap, shifting over to jostle at Ghost’s shoulder.
They all smelled of hot explosives and scorching whiskey, and his nose burned against the sensory attack. Their small unit reeked of an unknown, comforting warmth, and Bones' stomach swooped dangerously against a fleeting breeze of frozen air. His tail started to hesitantly wag behind his back.
IN WHICH: Special Task Force 141 are assigned a militia hybrid to diversify their skill output; Soap tries to overcome his fear of dogs; and Ghost gets another chance.

Summary
Ghost has been hard at work tackling his aversion to touch since the 141 came together. He’d been irate the first time Soap and Gaz tried casually throwing an arm around him. He had felt repulsed, nauseous, scared…
Warm. Comforted.
It took him a few weeks to admit to himself and his therapist that physical touch was a love language he has been severely starved of.
Thankfully it’s a language that his squad is annoyingly fluent in. More often than not he loves being close to his team now.
Only Soap has this strange ability to make him crave more, though.
