Harcourt stares up at Adrian, her face all splotchy and red. He stares right back down at her. Neither of them move or even blink for a long moment until something finally flickers across Harcourt's stoic face.
Fear.
It's fear and Adrian knows it is because he's seen it on enough people's faces when they've stared up at him during their final moments on Earth.
And good, he thinks, she should be afraid. He could kill her right here and now so fucking fast that she wouldn't even know what hit her. She'd be dead before she even knew that he had a weapon in his hand.
He could do it.
It'd be so easy.
Adrian turns on his heels and walks away instead.

Tony, who had been fully briefed on the issue last night, just nods and takes a sip of his wine.
Penny, who hasn't been briefed yet, looks like Pepper just told her that she's being dropped off at an orphanage tomorrow morning.
After Penny's seventeenth birthday, a reporter leaks the adoption to the media. Tony claiming Penny as his biological daughter seems like the best move. It all goes well until it doesn't and Tony finds himself zip tied to a chair at Penny's birthday party, staring down the barrel of a gun.

He may have a concussion.
A hand smooths his hair back and he flinches away violently. His eyes snap open -- when did he close them? -- and Natasha is looking down at him.
"You're muttering."
"Hello, Judas." He says through chattering teeth. "I'm glad they sent you to do the job. You'll make it quick and painless, right? Like Old Yeller?"
"I’m not here to kill you, Tony."
Natasha brings Tony home after Siberia, and even though she's a fugitive now, he can't seem to get her to stop coming around.
