"He's the devil," Barb says, giving Nancy a righteous nod. "It's all smoke and mirrors with him. He doesn't know the material inside and out like you do, Nance."
Nancy sighs. "He's not the devil. He's just good looking. And charming. And he doesn't get flustered . No matter what points I make, he just sits there with that stupid smile on his face, like he's indulging me by letting me talk. It's infuriating!"

That's why she has to make sure her partner is fellow A student Chrissy Cunningham. Chrissy would rather work with one of her friends, but her cheerleading team needs a new member before competition, and Chrissy knows Nancy's past with ballet. She'll be a shoo-in. So, they strike up a deal. Chrissy will help Nancy get the top grade in the class, and Nancy will help Chrissy win her cheerleading competition. It's a win-win situation. It's too bad neither of them counted on catching feelings.
