    Summary

Alhaitham's books-hoarding situation continued to grow out of control. Kaveh magnanimously decided to offer to build a new house for him, with enough space for his ego and the books too.

This was fine by Alhaitham. And, of course, he wanted it to be a house for two.

    --

On moving out of the old, moving on to the new, and moving forward together.

    Summary

Kaveh's eyelashes flutter open. Alhaitham is greeted with the most beautiful shade of maroon red he has ever seen. There's no hostility in Kaveh's gaze, no insecurity. Alhaitham won't have to decode his silence today.

No, Kaveh simply smiles, and then giggles as he tries to spin in Alhaitham's arms.

"Dance with me," Kaveh mumbles, and Alhaitham wraps his arm around his middle a little tighter. "'Haitham, pretend you don't dislike me. Just this once."

    Summary

It takes Kaveh a moment to realize that Al-Haitham’s eyes aren’t the only part of him that has gone dark. The tips of his ears peek out between strands of silver hair, tinted a bright red. Streaks of the same color make their way down his neck to where the single green gem sits below his clavicle. Al-Haitham watches, open-mouthed and flushed, as Kaveh slides the cake into the oven and sets a timer. He hovers just by Kaveh’s side, as if he were waiting for him to tell him what to do—or what not to do. Interesting.

“Kaveh,” Al-Haitham repeats, his voice rough, “untie me. Now.”

Kaveh regards him for a moment longer, amused. “Somehow I don’t think that’s what you want,” he says, trailing a teasing finger along Al-Haitham’s forearm. Al-Haitham shivers, his chest rising and falling rapidly as he stands there, rooted to the spot, and stares at Kaveh with dilated pupils. His flush has spread to his face, his cheeks the color of ripe cherries.

When Al-Haitham displays a keen interest in a certain piece of Kaveh’s dendro technology, Kaveh is more than happy to satisfy that interest.

    Summary

“You’re in the hospital,” she says. “You were in a traffic accident, and–"

“No, I heard that. But–” Wei Ying glances at the extremely pretty man, who’s just staring at him, completely still. His empty hands hover in the air. “I don’t need anyone to take care of me. I just wanna go home."

“You are going home,” Yanli reaches over and tucks his hair behind his ear, giving him a tiny smile. “Don’t worry. Just a few more scans, and then Lan Zhan can take you back."

    “Who’s Lan Zhan?” he asks.

The pretty man by his side inhales so sharply Wei Ying feels the air get sucked out of the room.

    -

Wei Ying gets in a traffic accident and loses six years of his memories, including meeting and marrying the love of his life. This is the story of how he falls back in love with Lan Zhan: quickly, and inevitably.

Or, my take on one of my favorite tropes.

    Summary

“Cerberus, what are you doing?” Neuvillette kept his voice calm and even, as if he was having a normal conversation.
Slowly, Cerberus let go of the figure’s throat and got to his feet, leaving his victim gasping and moaning. The smile on his face was fey, his eyes alight with ice cold fire. “Iudex, what a surprise. I did not expect a visit from you today.”
“I ask you again, Cerberus. What are you doing?”
Cerberus threw a glance down at the prone man next to his boot. “I am administering just punishment to Mister Dougier here, for serious transgressions committed against his fellow residents of the Fortress Méropide.” He met Neuvillette’s gaze, a dangerous glint in his eyes. “As is my right as Duke and master of this place.”

Set after Wriothesley's story quest, picking up on the Dougier storyline. A direct sequel to my stories The Nature of Freedom and Who stands guard while Justice sleeps?
