Summary
There were three possibilities:
One: Jon was telling the truth—and so were Damian’s memories—and Damian’s childhood best friend really had been abducted at age eleven by a mysterious woman who had made everyone forget he ever existed, even his own father.
Two: Damian’s memories were accurate, but the thing Damian had met in the park was not Jon, and was using his memories to manipulate Damian for some nefarious purpose, presumably connected to whatever had made Jon disappear in the first place.
Three: Jon Kent had never existed, and the thing in the park had implanted those memories in Damian’s mind—again, for nefarious purposes.
It was tempting to believe in the first option. Damian’s memories of Jon were so clear: clinging to Goliath’s back and laughing as they soared through the night sky. Crouching by his open window, daring Jon to be bad for once and sneak out. Swearing to Superman that he would protect him.
If Jon was real, Damian had failed profoundly to keep that promise.

'Thank you, sweetheart.' His lips move near-silently, a confessional between man and machine. 'Thank you for saving me. Thank you for saving him. I’m sorry for abandoning you. I’m sorry for not loving you like I should have.'
A story told across the years, looking at Maverick’s relationship with his F-14, his relationship with Rooster and - perhaps most importantly - his relationship with himself.

“Big spoon or little?” Maverick asked with a teasing look and Rooster’s brain- traitorous fucker that it was- found itself too busy conjuring up imagery of how a night spooning with Maverick might go to form any sort of coherent response.
Maverick’s expression turned rueful, clearly misreading Rooster’s lack of reaction as a different kind of hesitation. “I’m sorry, that was too much.” He shuffled to the side, taking only a sliver of bedding for himself and leaving the rest for Rooster. “We need to stay close to keep warm, and back-to-front is the best way to do that. But we can also go back-to-back. It’s not a problem.”
Rooster shook his head. He was just being stupid, there was no reason for either of them to risk injury just because Rooster couldn’t get his fucking libido under control. “No, it’s fine. I’m- ah- I’m bigger, so I guess it makes sense for me to be...uh...the big spoon?”
Maverick laughed fondly, “That doesn’t necessarily correlate, but sure.”
In which Maverick is the same hellion he's always been, Rooster is just trying to get his dick to behave, and somewhere Goose is banging his head repeatedly against the nearest brick wall.

Lewis groans while shoving his head into his hands. He stares at the ground, waiting... and waiting, but Harry doesn’t do more than continue to make disgusted noises in front of him. “Why aren’t you off to get a pitchfork and mob?”
“Too tired, honestly,” Harry says, while throwing the gloves into the back of the foxhole. “I can’t run through the snow.”

What’s the point of dating someone with the same interests as you if they’re not actually interested in you?” Joe throws his hands out, emphatic. This is always the thing about Web’s boyfriends. It’s like they tick all these boxes, and Web ticks all these boxes for them, but they don’t really see him.
It seems to sink in for Web. After a minute he says, “Well, he was actually pretty good in bed.”
“Sure he was.” Joe’s skeptical. A guy can surprise you, maybe, but guys like Brian rarely do. Joe’s pretty sure no guy in a sweater vest has ever really rocked his world. “I know you get laid. I mean, I know you getting laid doesn’t actually make you any less insufferable.”

Web just blinks at him for a second, and Joe wonders if he’s actually going to have to fucking ask, and then Web shrugs. “Okay,” he says. “Now?”
