"I'm sorry for my unplanned rut," Enid feels the need to say.
Wednesday sighs. All of the sharp edges flee her voice, each syllable round and slowly rolled from her tongue to ensure Enid catches every word, though she typically misses very little with her heightened hearing. "Don't apologize. Your anatomy has never been an issue, and it isn't now." At once, Wednesday's voice sharpens to dagger points. "But do not keep things from me. Anything. I..." she trails off. Rarely speechless, Enid attentively watches as Wednesday briefly breaks eye contact to gather her thoughts before looking up at her again. "You're mine," she says.
"I know," Enid says instantly.
"You will tell me everything about you."
"I do."
"Then why not this?"
"I—it's not a part of myself I'm entirely comfortable with yet, Wednes. I don't...have it often." She looks up and away and wills the color from her cheeks. "Just when my wolf wants to mate."
"I like when you're uncomfortable," Wednesday admits. Her lips turn downward. "But not like this."

She wakes up again and is shocked to find the person sharing her bed... is her aunt, and then she's flooded with memories, of two different lives in two different worlds, and while she now wants her omega to be her mate in truth despite being unwilling to remove the slave collar that binds Astra to her, her aunt is far more concerned with Kara's foretelling her parents' demise.

Her aunt thankfully agrees to her plan, and after having to suffer through a Daxamite ball for far too long and dancing with a certain smarmy princeling, Mon-El takes Kara to the auction happening not far from the palace.
A large sum of money, a long-awaited mating bite, and a cute little massacre later, they have some explaining to do.

Summary
Astra is dishonorably discharged from the Military Guild after her husband frames her for a crime he committed, and after being quietly dumped in Argo City with no contacts and minimal funds, she goes straight to a bar.
She's drunk and wallowing, so of course a smug little alpha shows up to bother her, but when the young woman offers her a way to remove the mating bite on her neck, Astra realizes the alpha is wearing robes only allotted to those in the upper echelon of the Science Guild.
So she follows the woman onto her ship, and quickly learns her old guild has a habit of dumping omegas and claiming them dead, and that this little alpha has a habit of quietly working miracles.
