Summary
“The conservatory believes suffering produces excellence,” Wednesday said. “It’s a theory.”
“Do you believe it?”
Wednesday paused, considering. Years ago, she would have said “yes” without hesitation. She had been raised on the gospel of beautiful pain: that art required sacrifice, that comfort was the enemy of transcendence, that the greatest musicians played from wounds that never fully healed.
But that was before.
Before the diagnosis, before the silence crept in and swallowed everything she knew about suffering and art and meaning.
“I believe,” Wednesday replied carefully, “that suffering happens regardless of what we do.”
Wednesday Addams is a deaf cello prodigy, faking her way through Nevermore Conservatory.
Until Enid arrives—the most persistent person Wednesday has ever failed to drive away—and the cellist discovers that music might still exist in the space between vibration and touch.
But falling in love with someone who dances like the rising sun becomes infinitely more complicated when Enid’s body begins to betray her too.

Wednesday focused on the lake, on the way the water had darkened to obsidian as the sun slipped behind the trees. She envied it, this ancient reservoir that could absorb a hundred tragedies and still keeps its surface smooth and untroubled. But Wednesday wasn’t a lake, was she? She was a girl, and girls like her were made to feel—which proved to be the fundamental problem: she cared. She cared with a devotion that burned, with a loyalty that bordered on violence. She cared enough to rewrite laws, to bribe hospital administrators, to drive five hours with Enid’s weakened form. And none of that devotion—none of that desperate, all-consuming love—seemed to be enough for the only task that mattered:
Making Enid want to live.
Enid is slowly disappearing—starving herself to silence the wolf she was told she’d never be.
Wednesday is slowly dying—psychic senses burning out, migraines cracking her skull, watching and watching, because what else can she do?
They arrive at a private Addams property to heal.
But you can’t love someone back from the edge when you’re both falling.

Summary
Lauren Jauregui hated Camila Cabello, plain and simple. Of course, who could blame her?
