He can stay on the ship for a while until he can think of a way to break the news, which, who knows when that'll be. Maybe in a few weeks, or maybe until the baby is close to being born. In the meantime, he has to be mindful of himself. A human pregnancy requires lots of vigilance and rest, which shouldn't be too hard. He might go stir-crazy, but it's the least he can handle.
Vash doesn't get a normal pregnancy because he's not normal.

At the steps of the casino a little boy dressed in brightly patched overalls shoves a crumpled paper into Wolfwood’s hand, then bounces on his toes until Wolfwood smoothes it out. It’s a flyer, hand painted with a large cage holding a question mark. It beckons Wolfwood come see the caged wonder in the big top all week! He looks at the boy who is grinning at him. He’s missing his two front teeth, shaggy hair, ribs protruding and skinny arms.
“I ain’t given’ you money for a piece of paper, kid,” Wolfwood says. He does reach into an inner pocket of his coat and extracts two pieces of candy. “Here.”

Two and a half years after an alternate universe July is destroyed, Wolfwood escorts Meryl Stryfe and Milly Thompson through the desert to caravan port. They're doing investigative reporting on human trafficking in caravan's after Meryl's success in publishing a piece on Vash the Stampede post July. Wolfwood is trying to live and forgive himself for his betrayal that ultimately killed Vash.

Many years had passed since the sun rose again. Ignis, Gladio, and Prompto were reborn with vague memories and met up in every life. The only gift the gods granted them with. Except for Noctis. He hadn’t been reborn at all. His soul was the price they had to pay to make the sun rise again, after all. So it was lost. The three made peace with it after a long period of grief and held their dear prince in their memories.
Until this century. Something was different. They could all feel it when they first met up in this life. Noctis was out there too. His old magic hums in their veins, inaccessible yet comforting. It felt more intense the closer they were to him. That’s how they ended up here, in Insomnia once again to find their missing piece.

The abandoned bell tower still strikes at random—phantoms of services past signaling a bad omen to come. Quick sightings of bright white wings and terrifying claw marks up the brick exterior only add to the rumbling rumors. At midnight, whisps of a sad, old hymn drift into town and lull the occupants to a fitful sleep.
Wolfwood doesn’t believe in rumors like that.
