Summary
“Your friend, Eleven, disrupted your assimilation,” Vecna explains, so close Mike can see his crooked, rotting teeth. “The others were gone in a moment, absorbed into my psyche, but you… linger.” His expression darkens on the word, bitter that things didn’t go as planned. “But no matter. It won’t last long. You are simply an echo of a dying mind. You’ll lose yourself soon enough. Lose yourself… to me.”
Dread settles in Mike’s stomach. Unlike the others, he doesn’t even get the privilege of a proper death.
This hell is just for him.
Or: Trapped in Vecna's mind, Mike tries desperately to hold onto a fading sense of self. Meanwhile, the Party in Hawkins struggle to pick up the pieces and prepare for their final confrontation with the evil that has overtaken their town.
This is a continuation from my s4 rewrite in which Mike never made it to California, covering the 18 months between s4 and s5. Read Part 1 first!!

Summary
Maybe it’s the lingering adrenaline from the false alarm a moment ago, but Mike suddenly has a bad feeling deep in his gut. Something is off. Slowly, he walks around to look at Chrissy’s face.
White eyes. Rapid blinking. Unfocused. Unseeing.
Mike’s terror multiplies tenfold, heart rate ratcheting back up. He blinks and it’s Will standing in front of him, glaze-eyed and shaking, seizing, eyes twitching in their sockets, stuck in a waking nightmare as the Mind Flayer forces itself into every orifice.
He blinks again and it’s Chrissy, going through the same thing. Or something very similar.
Fuck. Not now. Not again.Or: After witnessing Chrissy's death, Mike finds himself on the frontlines of the latest interdimensional battle—and at the top of Hawkins’ Most Wanted list, as police, crazed townspeople, and otherworldly monsters all vie to get to him first.

Nancy choked on a sob. "He's dead! How is he going to be okay?"
Or: Four years after graduation, they're back in the Abyss, where a failing fight leads to Mike being bitten and losing everything about himself, except his love for Will Byers.

Summary
The thing flashed behind Will's eyes. Curled over Mike's body as he screamed. Possessive, like a wolf over an animal carcass. He could almost imagine it. Its bloody maw, clawed fingers, caged eyes, like a zoo animal, like something that needed enrichment.
“Mike,” he started, throat tight. “What the fuck bit you?”
-
-Or, during a brutal night in the woods, Mike is attacked by something that looks human, but leaves behind a slew of dead dogs and a bite mark on Mike’s throat. And then Mike begins to change.
Will is torn between protecting Mike from himself, or letting him go to become something monstrous.
