I took the stars from my eyes and then I made a map
And knew that, somehow, I could find my way back
Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too
So I stayed in the darkness with youOr, Caine pays a visit to Queenie, in the cellar.

borrower au because I dunno how to act. if I get feedback or if my brain lets me I’ll continue it 👍
edit: heya hyperfixation went away. finishing this eventually but No definite dates. I have an outline just no motivation sorry bout that. comments n kudos feed me
edit 2: 2026- obviously this is on indefinite hiatus. I might rewrite it at some point and I’ll definitely finish it someday but the person that started it is different than the person I am now. I graduated and all it was really hard. but yeah thank you for reading! definitely coming back to this someday but I assume it will be a good long while.

Summary
The world where there wasn't a brain scan, where humans were dragged into a computer against their will... it's not a world with happy endings. And when the humans are ejected from the Circus, missing one of their own, they don't just get to go back to their lives. There's hospitals, and police, and desperately trying to be believed, followed by just as desperately trying to be left alone. But the one thing they have is each other. They have each other and that's never going to change.
TADC AU – Non-SOMA, Escape the Circus. Everyone is insanely codependent and the way they got out was so traumatizing they can barely talk about it. Pomni tries her best to hold everyone together, while also getting re-used to a life outside, and wondering which world was actually better.
MAY become Gangle/Zooble and/or Jax/Pomni if it goes on long enough, but most of the fic is focused on their platonic found family bond. MULTIPLE Trigger Warnings, both tagged and untagged; untagged will be labelled at the top of chapters. Viewer Discretion Advised.

A week.
That's how long it takes to delete Abel. It's... Surprisingly easy, with the AI barely having a grasp on the circus code, it doesn't take much.

A week, is all it takes for him to break Caine.

Her being perceived as something impercievable. As Zooble put it, some kind of anomaly floating in the sky.

She breathed. She smiled.

Summary
“Wretch,” I cried, “thy god hath lent thee—by these angels he hath sent thee
Respite—respite and nepenthe from thy memories of Lenore;
Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe and forget this lost Lenore!”
Quoth the Raven “Nevermore.”~~~
Dear Jax,
Why do I begin all these letters with "dear Jax?" You weren't dear to me at all! You were an insufferable, insensitive, unlikeable, violent jackass who had absolutely no interest in changing. But I guess part of me assumed you'd give it up some day and get better. I don't know why, but the idea of you not getting a happy ending never felt real until you were already gone.
. . .
Or, Jax's abstraction hits Zooble a lot harder than they were expecting. They don't know how to explain this, not even to themself. At Kinger's suggestion, they attempt to anyway--through letters. They think it's stupid and pointless, but something makes them keep writing anyway.
