On Thin Ice: An avalanche traps Finn and a rookie inside an Antarctic volcano, while Holley goes to save them.
Brainwashed: Finn's captors attempt to turn him into a sleeper agent.
Guardian: Lightning is forced to become a superhero and it's not very fun.

This is an alternate version of what could have occurred in Cars 3 if Lightning had reacted differently to Storm. In the actual film, he makes peace with the fact that it's simply the age of the next-gen racers, coaches Cruz, and becomes a mature mentor.
However, what if he never matured?
What if he became bitter the officials allowed Storm to compete with him despite Storm being a newer, different design to him?
What if, instead of moving past his anger, he allowed it to stew, and started plotting revenge?
What if he went to an extreme and took advantage of the lax Piston Cup regulations to finally have the #95 beat Storm?
What if he was willing to compromise the safety and the integrity of the Cup just to prove a point?

None of this is right.
Almost as if manifested by the thought, Lightning appears. Mack blinks, and he’s there after a few frames of dark. Mack smiles down at him, involuntary, but not without great effort. He can't hold the expression.
Something in Lightning’s face turns Mack’s voice soft. “Hey Bucko,” he says to him quietly and without a cough.
Lightning speaks to him; but his heart sinks as he can't separate his voice from the siren. Mack can only stare in a listless fog and fail to read his lips. Presumably, he’s saying all the usual things, so Mack imagines them instead. Help is on the way. Just hang on. I love you.
Lightning is trembling. His pupils are blown, adrenaline-sick. Mack reaches out to hold him.
But he cannot move.
