He had only intended to save the child from a dark, winter storm, but his father Phil decided to take Ranboo in, much to his objection. As he and Ranboo start to get closer, Technoblade comes to realize a new addition to the family isn’t as bad as he initially feared.

Until the royal family of all people took him in. Now he has two older brothers, two new friends, and two (foster) parents.
He can either let them in, or push them away.
Wilbur and Techno are in similar boats, they're just much better at hiding it.

Karl glances back towards the bed—still empty. He feels oddly forlorn, staring at it, as if there’s something, something important, missing from the sheets. It’s not…unusual, really, to find that something’s missing: reaching into his pockets to find them empty, turning to speak to someone to find empty space, staring out across the water to the rest of the world and feeling like he’s left something behind.
In any event, this thing that’s wrong; it feels less missing and more lost, gone beyond any hope of salvation. And it’s frustrating, it always is, because Karl has no clue what “it” is. He doesn’t know where to look, who to ask, because he has no words for the unnameable sense of wrongness that pervades the room.
Karl’s bed is empty.
Why does that bother him?
