Summary
On the morning of the twenty-sixth of February in the year ninety-one of the Fourth Age, Dwalin, Son of Fundin, died.
On the evening of the twenty sixth of April in the year two thousand nine hundred and forty-one of the Third Age, it became quickly apparent that death was only a minor inconvenience.
Dwalin has another plan this time around. One that involves returning a certain piece of evil jewellery directly to sender before Sauron gains a foothold on Middle Earth. Maybe it’ll save a few people he cares about. Maybe he’ll get a little longer with his husband.
And maybe, just maybe, he’s not the only one doing this a second time over.

All his life, there had not been much thought spared to the shades in between. Man was either good or evil, an upholder of the law or a defier of it. If one strayed from the Lord's path, he could not be reconciled, not in the eyes of the law. Indeed, that is what Inspector Javert had long believed.
But the river looked grey. Jean Valjean, a convict, had saved his life. Things were not so clear now.

When Javert falls, Valjean is there to catch him. The unlikely friendship that follows proves strong enough to save them both. But another's love is a difficult thing to accept when one has lived his whole life without it.

Summary
Thorin Oakenshield wakes. The air is cold, clinging to his skin in an unpleasant way. He reaches for his sword, the memory of his defeat still fresh in his mind.
In the distance shines the familar light of Bag End, where Bilbo Baggins is desperately trying to understand why the battlefield around him faded to the comfort of his home, the calendar mocking his attempts at making sense of the situation.
Both of them try to navigate the violent jump back in time as best as they can, but getting in each other's way of diverting fate causes more trouble than any of them could expect. It is a lonely feat, changing the past – unless, amidst all the chaos, they manage to understand each other again.

After dealing with the misfortune and poverty that has characterized his entire adult life thus far, Thorin feels a burgeoning hope of a better future for himself, his family, and his people. This hope turns into hardened determination when Tharkûn presents him with an opportunity to reclaim his homeland and return Durin’s Folk to their former glory.
If only Thorin could overcome the sickening terror that grips him at the thought of his child and sister-sons being lost as casualties to his ambition.
If only he could stop staring at the damned Melekûn.

Things didn't exactly go to plan.
OR: spirited away from the fire nation by their mother and abandoned to a life of poverty and running, zuko and azula learn to manage. right until the avatar and his friends drop way too cheerfully into their life, and the war returns to them in earnest. a story of hope, hardship and learning to believe in humanity again. zuko wants absolutely nothing to do with it, thank you.
