"Why? Can't you just…" Crunch - Asa takes a huge bite of the apple and sighs like it's the best thing she's ever had. She chews with her mouth closed, all polite.
Gabby stops staring - can't go cutting her thumb off. "'Cause the skin'll get stuck between your teeth, dummy."
Asa's halfway done with her apple by the time Gabby's cut up hers all fancy-like, the way she saw someone she can't remember - but can remember was important - do it once. They even used a tiny little fork for it, to keep their hands from getting sticky. Which is silly - juices are fine, you can lick 'em off. Not like blood.--
Gabby and Asa, and the contrast between nights they've shared together over these last few years. And apples, and video games, and blood. Covers events pre-canon in the manga and anime.

Summary
She shrugs; the tug, the stiff scar tissue of her left shoulderblade, is harder to tune out right now. Gingerly she turns his hand over. The flame alchemy array carved into his skin is almost unrecognizable - bisected, maimed by stitches, pulled back together so that its edges no longer line up neatly. Inert.
Hawkeye sighs through her nose. Sir, she could say - but no one is especially happy to hear her talk these days. Something about aggravating her healing throat. Something about the look on Mustang's face as he watches the bandages flex around her frail voice.
So she sighs, and she raises her eyebrows, and - mercifully - he chuckles.--
"The one thing worse than death is to avert your eyes from it. Look straight at the people you kill, don't take your eyes off them for a second. And don't ever forget them - because I promise that they wont forget you."
Riza is still looking back. Mustang? Mustang is looking at her. -

Summary
If Hawkeye was able to wheedle out of taking any of these on account of not having a flower vase, Roy should have followed her example instead of hauling the whole cart's worth up to his dingy apartment.
Exactly how little he uses most of his dishware is helpfully illustrated here. Painted with bright petals all around his kitchen and what passes as his living room (a couch). Honestly, not the portrait of his day-to-day he was expecting. Something more flattering, maybe.--
Roy is not exactly coping with recent events very well. The impulse purchase of a car full of flowers is probably evidence of that - and, unexpectedly, a great source of relief in the months to come.

If this was May's Expedition (if she had a camera crew and not just her imagination) this would probably be in slow motion: a terrific leap over the water, the shock as she clocks that green is hair and not a clump of leaves, the high-pitched yell that starts as she tries to scramble backwards midair. And Drew's shout as she barrels into him, sending both of them into the forest mulch.
What no documentary could ever capture is the way she sees stars on impact, or the feeling of twigs scrapping her knees. There's a beat of silence, like every Pokémon in these woods stopped to watch this trainwreck. Something bonks the top of May's head and a second later follows the unmistakable plonk of a Pokéball hitting forest soil.
Drew spits out a twig (it almost feels like he aimed that at her).
"Well, well - May. What a -" he pauses to gag on more debris, "- surprise."

Traveling solo has been going great. Amazing. Super-duper awesome. May's never been better! Drew's the one being weird; he's been super nice lately - and suspiciously keen to win this Bug-Catching Contest.

Essek has complicated feelings about the woman who raised him. 'Complicated' meaning, in this context, that he cannot quite pinpoint which feeling is causing this unceremonious breakdown late at night.

The sea makes for a beautiful sight at daybreak, the crimson of the rising sun bleeding into the mercurial tides. So long as he keeps his eyes shut to the blood-red waters, so long as he loses himself in the feeling of the sand under his curled toes, the cold breeze on his face, the scent of salt in the air and the sound of waves lapping at the shores in his ears, Asuma can almost forget that it had once swallowed his mother's life whole. Can almost be willing to forgive.

Summary
May thought that moving in with her best friend made perfect sense. They’d both wanted a home base for the coordinating off-season, it would save a lot of money, and she found that she and Drew made a pretty good team. That was all. It meant nothing else, which she’d insist to anyone who implied otherwise. Including herself. She was just moving in with her friend, that was all. But as it turned out, ‘just moving in with her friend’ and assembling their furniture together, in their house, that they now lived in together, made May happier than it probably should have.
And she wasn’t the only one.Or, to summarize in the form of a popular internet meme: “And they were roommates.”
