Summary
“You look…” Vander starts a thought, and then shakes his head, letting it trail off. Viktor is sharp enough to catch it and his mind fills in the blank at light speed.
“Like yours?” He asks, looking up at Vander with his lips pursed and eyes slanted coyly. “You look like mine.”
Vander glances away quickly, but it’s like his gaze is magnetically attracted back, because his eyes return to Viktor anyways. They rove over him, seeming to drink in every detail, probably lining everything up for comparison with his mystery heartbreaker. Viktor has already done the same– Vander is taller and larger than Jayce, older, his hair a little too light and a little too long. He’s got more of the Undercity accent, and has an aged confidence so he doesn’t stumble and blush the way Jayce does.
But he’s close enough. Probably as close as Viktor will ever get.

“And the... the, uh…” Sky doesn't explain, awkwardly dropping her sentence. Jayce knows what she was going to say anyways.
“The ears and tail just appeared, too,” He replies gravely. “He keeps knocking things over and hiding under the tables. I don't know what to do.”

“I’m in a meeting, baby. Not right now,” Jayce murmurs. Viktor glances around at the members of the board like he’s just noticing them now. Every single one looks away under his stare, which is equally penetrating as Jayce’s, his golden eyes sharp and hawklike.
Viktor sighs, seemingly annoyed at the presence of the others, as though he expects Jayce to clear the room for them this instant. Which he absolutely would do, Viktor just has to say the word. Jayce would do anything for him. If Viktor asks for a private jet, or a country for himself, or for the very world to stop turning, Jayce would drop everything and make it happen. But Viktor doesn’t. He asks for traditional Czech food from a hole-in-the-wall diner, for nice suits to wear to events with Jayce, and mostly for his doting and attention. That’s plenty.

Jayce is thirty-five. His modeling career ended five years ago. Once, pictures of him grinning in a pair of tight black boxers and low rise jeans lined every billboard. Now the only place you’ll find them is in the fading pages of old GQs. The industry moved on the second his body fell short, his cut muscles softening and a few lines on his face.
Viktor is twenty two. His modeling career is on the rise, his sharp and androgynous features opening doors left and right. His body is all he has going for him, but he's wasting away slowly, between his degenerative disease and current lifestyle. He takes approximately 450 miligrams of cocaine per day to keep himself awake and alive, and eats less than a guinea pig to stay rail thin.
Acting is ignoring what's behind the camera. Modeling is paying attention to it.

Summary
Jayce needs to understand him. He needs to know every inch of Viktor, inside and out. If he didn’t so desperately want Viktor alive, he would cut him open and do it himself. But he has some restraint. So he’ll settle for learning Viktor from the outside, first.
Viktor’s body is fighting against him, and he is fighting right back, tearing himself to shreds in the process. Jayce will help glue him back together. By force, if necessary. Viktor doesn’t know what’s good for him. But Jayce can handle that.

Cait shakes her head. “Trust me. That boy gets around. You might have that stupid frat-boy cred, but Viktor is wildly popular in his own way.”
Jayce furrows his eyebrows, shaking his head again in disbelief. “Wow. I just never would have guessed from looking at him, you know?”
Cait hums, turning back to the television. “Look a little closer. It isn’t as unexpected as you think, if you actually paid attention.”
—Viktor has a reputation. Jayce is curious. He has no idea the ride he's in for-- appearances can certainly be deceiving.

“Please don’t kill me,” Viktor pleaded. “P-please, I’m scared.”
Jayce leaned over him, a hand grabbing at Viktor’s hair and yanking his head back forcefully.
“You better be scared, you dumb fucking bitch,” he hissed, and Viktor could feel the strands of his hair being ripped out at the root.
It wasn’t a whimper he let out this time. It was a moan.
They both seemed a little startled. Jayce froze, his hand letting go slightly, and Viktor chose to commit. He leaned back into it, his head tugging away from Jayce’s hand, and he let out a pleased sigh as he did so.
“... what the fuck,” Jayce muttered.

The thing is, it's really not what it looks like.
Jayce doesn't answer questions for Viktor with him standing right there to be dismissive. He doesn't ignore Viktor's input to choose what he wants to be selfish. He doesn't deny Viktor's requests whenever he feels like it to purposefully control him. He doesn't cover Viktor's mouth during sex to take what he wants.
He does it all because Viktor told him to. Because Viktor said it would make him happy.

That made Vanth laugh, throwing his head back. It wasn’t meant to be a joke. He showed all his teeth, grin blindingly earnest, eyes crinkling at the corners, his smile lines visible.
“No days off for me, amigo. Someone’s gotta watch over these people,” he clarified, and he threw a wave over his shoulder as he walked to his room.
But who watches over you? The question sat unspoken on Din’s tongue.
