Her voice turned quiet and crackled. “I only have Rost… Here… There’s nothing for you in the East.” A tear ran down her eye and down the bruise on her cheek that had started to make itself known to him even in the dark of the night. This was the very first tear Kotallo had ever seen on this battle hardened woman.
The Tenakth darted his eyes to the pale snow that enveloped their toes, his brows furrowed in a thoughtful manner. He couldn’t lie to himself, she was right. There wasn’t anything for him here that was of great duty to match his title as Marshal that he so proudly earned and carried. But his duty, in this moment in Aloy’s presence, meant nearly nothing to him.
Kotallo shot his eyes back up to her glassy ones, catching a glimpse of another tear leaving those greenshine eyes.
“I have you. Here. In the East.”
